No, didn't know that. I have the largest size Yeti insulated bottle (64 oz?) but I don't have the chutzpah to ask them to fill it for the price of a small coffee.

We called it the Hill of Death when we used to through parties up there. Lugging a generator and speakers up that path was not an easy task.

Lmfao, talking about Philz coffee is very off topic but when you go to the cashier, just say you have a personal cup. Sad to see you got banned from this forum though... not sure why

This didn't get covered anywhere (that I know of), but on Saturday the three developers presented their competing proposals for housing at the Balboa reservoir. Up to 1200 units.

Not really the Venus, but the Eye of the (Wind) Storm.

I visited the Venus sculpture at Trinity Plaza. With our typical June weather comes the typical summer winds and fog pattern. The plaza was like being in a wind storm (as can be enhanced by tall and bulky structures)
Yet, what makes Venus awesome is that it is perfectly situated like a tornado at the center of the storm.

boyinthecity - A fantastic photograph! I am surprised that it would be windy as I thought the buildings around the plaza would have protected it. A few days ago I had to hold on to a light post at the corner of Polk and Hayes streets the wind was so strong. It will be interesting to see how the wind changes with the new 14 story building across from the Essex Fox Plaza.

It looks like that's going to be the Bus Storage Facility for the TTC.

It looks surprisingly complicated; they'll have to excavate down for clearance under the eastbound 80 structure, and they're building an elevated bus ramp down under the westbound 80 structure.

I think it is definitely worthy of a post..and probably a thread. SFO expanding is great news for the entire region.

Isn't this a replacement for the Airport Hilton that was torn down to make way for the new International terminal 15-20 years ago now?

Yes--and it has been a long time coming.

The new hotel by the airport is def a worthy post! Glad to hear about the expansion and a new airtrain stop. It should also connect to BART, no?

from SFO's website (I can imagine Don Draper on a business trip picking up a stewardess at the nightclub):

San Francisco Airport Hilton 1962
SFO Museum 2011.032.0740

SFO added a 380-room hotel to its growing list of amenities. The San Francisco Airport Hilton was the first of the Hilton chain to be located at an airport. It featured the Tiger-A-Go-Go nightclub, which was popular with passengers, flight crews, and the general public.

Edit: 1962 is the date of the photo; the hotel opened in 1959

The San Francisco Airport Hilton closed in the mid 1990s and was demolished for the International Terminal construction. I remember going to events there multiple times.

You will still need to use the Airtrain system to get to the BART station.

I only admire SF's skyline on two occasions:
