Pool reservations open, availability as of this Thursday the 3rd:

Pool restaurant and bar Zanzibar also opening this week, with OpenTable reservation availability now beginning Saturday the 5th:

I was able to visit over the weekend. Hard to imagine another hotel with the basic "Marriott" branding that could come close to this property. Impressive.

I snagged these images from the above, reservation sites:

White Lodging has learned a lot since they opened the JW. This is really gorgeous for a standard Marriott flag.

Yes indeed. White Lodging has recently opened some gems both within Austin, and elsewhere.

Sad to see the industry absolutely ravaged.

As it happens I lived and worked hotels in Louisville prior to Austin — they’ve definitely also sharpened their game with Distil. It gets a lot of local Louisville fanfare too.

They’re doing good work.

It appears that they may have scrubbed that out of their photos.

That bar is smooth. The lighting is nice and I like the bold colors and textures.

All of these hotels with poolside service and reservations are making a killing during the pandemic. People feel being outside at a pool is safe and with a lot of parks and bars closed every one I have been to this summer is packed with locals (The Westin, Fairmont, The Line). Many are charging upwards of $40 for a chair for the day and the opportunity to buy $13 margaritas.

They must see dollar signs to open the pool bar almost 6 weeks before the hotel.

I marked this one as complete since it is open to the public.

The hotel is now supposed to open in January per the website. Not unexpected, but certainly putting another nail in the coffin of 2020, can't wait for it to be over.

The Austin Marriott is getting close for opening. View from north side where the future convention center expansion will butt up against it.

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times as a staycation or what have you when I lived in SAT, and I honestly like it better than its purported higher level sister, the JW.

Simple & sleek addition to the skyline but even better on the inside.
