Welcome Back, and Welcome Home

Our downtown campus is bustling as well. A major renovation of the School of Medicine’s research labs in the Hutchinson Building is well underway, and the university’s most ambitious project to date — the rebirth of the iconic Charity Hospital building — is moving forward. As the anchor tenant occupying one-third of the million-square-foot space of Charity – as well as the redevelopment of the Tulane Downtown Hospital complex – we will bring a long-abandoned block back to vibrant life with several Tulane schools, a new nursing program, and the Innovation Institute alongside apartments, retail and restaurants that will welcome and engage the community. This transformation, along with our recent partnership with LCMC Health and expansion to East Jefferson General Hospital, will establish New Orleans as a hub of bioinnovation and Tulane as a nationally recognized academic medical center for destination health care.

Thanks for being our eyes on the ground. Between the continuous investments being made by Tulane, and future plans being put together by the Biodistrict folks -that entire medical corridor is going to be huge and a real game changer for the city.

Along those lines I'm still curious to see where Xavier locates their med school.

Same here. If they buy some more land around their campus and build UP, it would look great off the interstate as you drive into downtown.

Looks like there might be some progress with the old Naval Support Activity Center at 4400 Dauphine. The LACDB has posted the commercial lease listings. First phase being 37,745 SF commercial space and 294 Units of Affordable Housing.

Good. Not too surprised, seeing the plans/visuals for the riverfront projects a few weeks ago.

Hopefully the city doesn't get in the way (again).

That might be what they intend to do. I’m wondering what will happen to the Tidewater building once Tulane moves into the renovated Charity Hospital. They might still use it for some research and administrative offices.

Since Tulane owns the building I would think they will start to put some money towards upgrading it as well . They had renderings somewhat recently done on how it would look.

Came Across this as well:

Thanks Tennis .. wow those renderings look fantastic. I’m still hoping that they’ll leave just enough room if the Pelican decide to build a new arena in that section of town. Any updates on Plaza Tower and 1010 Commons? We know the owners of those properties aren’t the most reputable. LoL

Watching the river district presentation and the presenter said they hope to have an exciting announcement in the next couple months about the office tower.

I hope there's an innovative architect involved. Traveling around so much, it's sad to see all of these cookie cutter buildings going up across the country.

Looks like the River District will have two office towers ending New Orleans long 30+ year drought of no new office towers. This is huge!

The whole plan looks incredible. I really hope it does come out close to these renderings and site plans. Also looks like real thought has gone into transportation, which is going to make it a lively place right away. Having the Riverfront streetcar line continue down and turn through here is going to make that line feel a lot more purposeful now.

One minor nitpick; I wish they would’ve left a plot of land available in the event the Pelicans wanted to build a new arena along the riverfront. With Top Golf and the soccer stadium ,that does leave much available land.
