Great News for the city and the states film industry. Anthony Mackie aka Marvel’s Falcon / Captain America has purchased 20 acres in New Orleans East off the l-10 service road, and currently looking to acquire more land adjacent to the site. The film studio will be the states first end to end film production facility.

Makes sense since it’s really a lot of available land and ability to do things like pyrotechnics etc without bothering neighbors.

New Orleans East, if history is any indicator, constantly suffers from endless broken promises, but this could actually be the one to finally work. This has the potential to be game-changing! Also, perception and visibility matters SO much in this city. To be able to see a major film production studio on I-10 in the East would be dramatically different than what people see from the interstate/have seen for decades. I'm hoping this comes to FULL fruition. And that it creates a domino effect.

What do you think a film studio looks like? It's just a bunch of windowless buildings. Looks no different than an Amazon warehouse or the ass end of a Walmart. It's not gonna be this impressive gateway feature.

Even Second Line Studios is pretty bare bones, and they built that in the historic district.

I believe they are referring to the since of industry / economic activity in the area. Which I totally agree will enhance the area and the entire city and region. Studios bring in lots of indirect developments like housing, retail and restaurants. And I wouldn’t go as far as saying all that about a movie studio development being a warehouse or the back side of a Walmart 😒.

I’m pretty sure it will have landscaping nice signage, possibly art work or tv / movie posters on the side of the sound stages which you are referring too as the back side of a Walmart. As well as other regular office buildings that End to end studios have.

Now this is interesting. Hey Tennis do you know or have you heard what the 6th and final phase of the south market district will be? I was hoping we can get a modern tower between 35 - 50 stories and maybe include some office/hotel/ residential. Their occupancy for the entire development I read is at 98% which is great.

Great to see the Oil & Gas building get the reno it deserves. It really does immediately make the skyline perspective of Rampart so much better I've noticed, especially at night with lights on. They only thing that needs to happen now besides the State Palace getting reno'd (also did that die with Rona?) is that street getting resurfaced/landscaped.
