Well hopefully when the decided on the name, it won't be something insanely long.

I'm wondering with the airport though. Because it's the Moncton Airport but sits in Dieppe, and they (Dieppe) have passed law if I'm not mistaken for business names to be french then english, an this might be the reason for the overly long name.

I think they will have a name like the Coliseum, or at least I hope it will be similar format, and not Airport name in length.

THe Dieppe sign bylaw does not apply to business names.

I see from felip's post that the display will be 5.7x3.8m. I'm sure that's larger than the current display in the Coliseum, but it would be nice to know just how much larger.

In any event, it will be high-def, which will be nice when watching video replays after controversial plays or high quality scoring chances.

Not sure of the scale but here's a quick look at it in place.

You have some serious skill when it comes to this, this is actually pretty amazing. What I like about this scoreboard is that it's all screen. I noticed that daktronics also does the electronic screens that you see around arenas.. I wonder if they also won the bid for them? Also curious if they have a plan for an electronic billboard outside the arena as well?

Also if you are looking for the perfect idea of what we will be getting, look up the San Diego Gulls score board, it's dimensions are basically the same as the one Moncton is getting and looks similar to our render.

I imagine so. I half heard an interview with Councillor Greg Turner on the radio where he mentioned that the big centre screen display could be synchronized with the "crawl screens" around the periphery of the rink. If so, it would make sense that they would both be Daktronics.

If the Centre is still considered a construction site this winter, I doubt the public would be allowed to skate on the ice even if it is ready.

Here's a picture of the pour (from Mayor Dawn Arnold's Facebook page)

I see that they have done landscaping (a swale, sodded grass and a few trees) between the arena and Main Street where "Parcel A" is located at.

I presume that the plans remain to develop this land at some point, and the current landscaping is a temporary feature (whether it lasts 1,2 or 10 years). The city was always more eager to develop "Parcel B" in any event........

Good afternoon all,

I have a couple of questions I am sure some can answer:

(1) What is happening with that ugly building behind the centre to the west. It looks abandoned to me. I am assuming it is staying or it would have been demolished by now.

(2) Can anyone explain how the retractable seating works at the south end of the building? From the above photo it looks like a huge wall is there. The seating will probably go against this wall, but what are the technical logistics of doing so. I can't quite figure out how this will work.

Thanks folks!
