Edit: It looks like all the lines converge on 7th Ave., including the new LRT West.
It's actually two lines Logan, the 201 goes from Crowfoot in the NW to Somerset Bridlewood in the South, and the 202 goes from Saddletowne NE to 69 Street W.
Both lines go through the 7th ave transit corridor, but there are plans to put the 201 underground through the downtown under 8th ave starting sometime in the 2020s. The 203 which will be the North Central to South East line will be underground through downtown all the way to 15th avenue when it is built in the 2020s as well. It should be UC within this decade though, at least the SE portion.

All 4 lines use the same track in Downtown. Although 2 lines come in from the east and 2 from the west, which helps spread out the load.

As for the ridership, the load is different for each of the lines. Currently, the south line got the highest ridership and the west line is projected to have the lowest. The total passengers over the peak hours (3 hours time frames from 6am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm) for each of the 3 lines is:
Code:
		 AM PM
South 19000	17000
North East	12000	12000
North West	11000	12000
The projection for the new West line is 8000-9000.

The peak-15 minutes load for each of the line coming into Downtown in the morning is 2,600 for the South, 1900 for North East, and 1800 for North West line. The peak hourly load for the South line is around 9000 pphpd, and there's no detailed data for the other two lines.

OK Thanks, last few posters.

Does the 7th Ave transit corridor have signal priority for the trains, or are the frequencies too high for signal priority in the downtown core.

I've never been able too get a good answer about how effectively signal priority works - are trains able to travel from station to station as if they were grade separated using signal priority, especially in an urban environment like DT Calgary. Maybe somebody knows an example of a system that uses signal priority effectively.

In the context of rapid transit, uh yeah, it's the middle of nowhere. If you think light rail to service future single detached neighbourhoods is a good use of transit dollars, than more power to you

Logan5 made the same point, but in much less definitive terms, hence Rusty didn't go after him with his uneducated personal attacks.

The Kitchener Transit Hub at King and Victoria with some future concept plans. The hub will tie in Via rail, GO rail, and Light Rail. Expected completion is 2017, same time as the KW LRT.

The Transit Hub will also be the inter-city bus terminal and will of course be served by Grand River Transit.

The West LRT station designs are just as nice, if not better, than the Millennium Line in Metro Van.

Some councillor(s) in the Wood Buffalo County Hall is making noise about getting LRT in Fort McMurray. The city is very narrow, following the river and the highway making the highway very congested.

Well I think they are moreso talking about building a lightrail line from the airport to the industrial areas of the city.

Uhm really? Its been the Fifth largest urban area in Alberta for like 10 years... and by 2030 they're projecting it will have over 130 000 people... so nope. Most cities of 70 000 aren't referred to as towns, though it looks acts like a town still, but hopefully not for much longer, even right now they have a couple high rises UC.

Edit: oh and the shadow population of Fort Mac is only 2 100... so for everyone thinking "Fort Macmurray doesn't have a permanent population"... it's actually Fort Chipeweyan and the rest of the rural service area that has the transient population as the combined permanent population of both those areas is only 4 200, with a shadow population of over 32 000. The combined total population for the whole Wood Buffalo Regional Municipality is 102 000, with 70 000 being permanent residents.
