MARTA isn't cost effective in the burbs. Clifton Corridor makes sense though. Leave the Beltline as a walking and biking trail, no streetcars. Put a streetcar loop on West Peachtree but nowhere else for now. Streetcars Are the Great Urban Gimmick of Our Time

I cannot tell you how many times I have thought about how great it would or would have been if all the highrises at Perimeter and in the Golden Triangle were in the political city of Atlanta. I lamented that our"Opera" House and Ballet center lies in Cobb County ( not to mention the Braves). But that is the reality of our development and we have to deal with it. We need to work with the metro area that we have, work and live in it. We need to take a broad view of what development is and at the same time work for higher density, walkability, and tall buildings in our core areas.

I just had a peek at his previous posts. He seems to have a lot of "inside knowledge" on developments and groundbreakings. He's also used the "Little Birdie says" phrase before back in 2014 before the huge wave of developments started.

Sounds like good news regarding Eviva, but we'll see. I'm still skeptical.

EDIT: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showpost.php?p=6716010&postcount=11351 - Link to one of his posts where he uses "Little birdie".

Why does MARTA discussion continue to happen on a forum dedicated to skyscrapers

1073 West Peachtree

I drove by 1073 West Peachtree today and noticed they have erected construction fencing around the low-slung building on the site.

What development is this?

It's for the Steamhouse Oysterfest.

Lots of activity today at the 880 West Peachtree site. Looks like maybe the lawfirm is moving out? There are a few trucks and dumpsters.

Awesome! It's nice to see another surface parking lot and low rise building getting redeveloped. Surface lots are definitely becoming a less common sight in the midtown area.

I thought that was a production crew... some street parking is closed around there, which usually means someone is filming.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is supposed to be filming there.

The construction pace should quicken as they get to the residential tower portions. University House took a while to get to that point as well due to the complexity of parking podiums trying to tuck in retail as well.

1010 West Peachtree seems to be moving even slower.

Yeah I think this development has been experiencing delays due to all of the rain we have been getting. They have been trying to finish the foundation and each time it rains it turns into a giant mud pit. Hopefully now with nicer weather we should be getting over the next couple of weeks they will be able to make some progress.

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/real_...le-changes-in-atlantas-condo-market.html

Quote:
For the first time in the city’s history, the condominium market is experiencing greater year-over-year appreciation than single family homes.
Quote:
This trend is even more prominent in the Atlanta market. Condo values last year rose nearly 9 percent, compared with 5.4 percent for single-family homes, Zillow said. This shift indicates a market more influenced by millennials, by empty nesters seeking walkable, dense neighborhoods and amenities, and by international buyers looking to invest.

Noticed a few interesting permits were filed today

Northside Hospital just filed permits to demo the buildings they own south of 13th Street between Spring and West Peachtree.

Juniper & 5th filed for their land development permit.

And it looks like an Amazon Pick Up Store will be opening a location soon in Tech Square.

Is this for the Medical Building proposal? The one with the very unflattering base.
