I think you're joking, but in case you're not: Those towers are engineered to withstand several storms like that.

It's interesting to think that with Atlanta's environment being so benign, many of these new towers should still be around centuries from now. They're not going anywhere as long as maitenence is cheaper than rebuilding, and many like the Bank of America Plaza will probably be preserved for historical reasons.

Anyways it's good to see Atlanta's infill growing in it's urban core.

Miami survived Hurricane Andrew which was a CAT 5 in August of 1992. All of the highrises survived but what didn't survive were the cheaply built wood frame homes that were blown away. After Andrew Miami implemented one of the most restrictive building codes in the nation.
Hurricane Sandy walloped NYC pretty well and they had no issues with their highrises either.
As for your mean spirited comment perhaps you should be more concerned about Ice storms in your area that have had paralytic effect instead.

FYI: Miami didn't take a direct hit, Homestead did. Andrews wind-field was so small that Miami on only experienced tropical force winds. Sandy made landfall in New Jersey with 80 mile an hr winds. And as far as being mean spirited, it wasn't my intention, and certainly hasn't reached the levels of mean spiritedness of some of the comments i've seen go back and forth on this thread.

Apparently a new 7- or 8-floor office building is in the works for Buckhead Village, on a small parcel. Does anyone know the exact plot of this one?

I assume it is the site at Bolling Way, between Peachtree and East Paces ferry.

It would be nice to see a few more of those tacky billboards bite the dust.

There's a project going on on Ellis St in downtown, I think between Courtland and Peachtree Center. Anyone know the details of this? It appears to be a bunch of curbwork going in, which to me would indicate suburban-style development, and it looks like the property will be gated. Unfortunate to have that going on downtown.

Unfortunatley it's this horrendous project:

I have no idea how they got approval to build a surface lot downtown, let alone knock down a late 1800's house to do so.

Bullshit. Cobb is just slightly majority white (55% I think) and trending downwards. In a few years it will be less than 50%. There's nothing "lily white" about it. (BTW, you should refrain from using "lily white" because it is derogatory and offensive).

The Braves came to Cobb Co, not the other way around. If you are Tim Lee and the Braves come knocking at your door, would you say no? No, you would welcome them with open arms. Maybe you should be saying "F-U" to the Braves for deciding to leave the city.

What about less privileged fans living in the northern burbs? Turner Field was not accessible for them at all. I guess it really is all about ITP. The world ends at 285.

They can stay in any one of the 1000's of hotel rooms in the Cumberland area and be within 1 mile of the stadium.

Cab services are sparse around Cumberland? haha OK pal. Uber/Lyft? They go where the action is. SunTrust Park will create business for them and they will grow in that area.

That's exactly what is happening at SunTrust Park. The stadium will be surrounded with a mixed use development that was once just forest.

How about the fans in the southern and eastern parts of the metro? Turner Field was still in a central location in the metro.

Please move this discussion elsewhere. This topic doesn't need to be dragged on in this forum anymore.

Three Alliance Center Going vertical

Tishman Speyer is moving ahead on vertical construction of Three Alliance Center. The developer filed permits with the City of Atlanta to begin construction on Three Alliance Center in Buckhead. In docs, Tishman describes the project as a 32-story high-rise, mixed-use building that will include 500k SF of office, 10 stories of parking, a single story of retail and a lobby and two stories of penthouses. The building, at 3550 Lenox, is being built by Turner Construction.

Yes, they definitely have the crane up already and the lot has been cleared for quite some time now. I'm equally confused here....

Cobb County already has mass transit. My understanding is that they don't want to buy into the MARTA system because they won't have the same level of control over it that they have now with CCT. They don't want to pay into a system they can't have total control over. There are only a few people in Cobb County who are still stupid enough to think that someone "urban" is gonna come up and steal their flat screen TV and take it home on the bus.

Three Alliance Center has always been advertised as being 30 stories. Has it changed to 32 stories or is BisNow keeping to their bush league journalist skills?

Permits for the actual building are separate from the permits that allow to prepare land, etc.
