Opera at Chez Pierre.

Mercury Opera used Commodore dinner and Chez Pierre for the Opera Carmen on the weekend.
good entertaining production in interesting locations. Chez Pierre is so skanky sleazy that it was cool.
This opera is on again next weekend.

Carmen

The setting is El Paso, Texas, where Don Jose, a U.S. Customs and Immigration enforcer is seduced by the eponymous heroine of Carmen’s Bizet. Drug running, bull riding, and the simmering jealousy of a jilted lover quickly turns things around in this updated version of the classic opera. Join the cast and crew of Mercury Opera as they move the setting between two (count ’em, two!) venues, the Commodore Restaurant and Chez Pierre, in one evening of passion of revenge.

When: Until Thursday, Aug. 15. All performances at 7 p.m.; no shows Sunday to Tuesday

Where: Commodore Restaurant, 10712 Jasper Ave. (Part 1); Chez Pierre Cabaret, 10040 105 St. (Part 2)

Admission: $55, adults; $45, students and seniors, available in advance from Tix on the Square

Rumours going around that Grand Villa is on the verge of shutting down. Anyone know anything about this? Apparently they've already cut back and are now only open 4 days a week (Thurs.-Sun.) until 1am.

This would be a major fail for Ice District if one of its main attractions closes before the project is even complete.

Would be pretty sad given that the JW just opened and both Sky and Legends don't have residents yet...

Anyone know how Baccarat did when it was open?

"Verge of shutting down?" You're going off that fear mongering goof on C2E that started all of this. He's claiming that his fundraising group event is only being given permission to do it on the obvious slow nights of the week...so he is assuming that the other days are shutting down....don't believe it

Revised hours to reflect demand/their client base.

Try again. Union wages aren't hurting Gateway's other casino in WEM, which continues to operate daily from 9am-3am.

I sincerely hope this isn’t a sign of things to come in Ice District. I was really disappointed on the decision to scrap the theatre, and the revisions to tower b-is it even happening anymore?

The podium is, but the tower will await 'market demand' I believe.
