@Airboy, nice pic. I saw a 5T 733 at YOW for the first time in a long time last week, and in the old livery to boot. Usually YOW uses the based 734, but pre-pandemic 1 daily each of the 733 and 734 were scheduled on weekdays. Today is the first time on the YOW FIDS that there's a 2nd 5T flight showing, but it has a strange flight number 5T4111.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority ("GTAA") today reported its financial and operating results for the three- and six-months ended June 30, 2021. Passenger activity decreased 79.1 per cent during the first six months of 2021 as compared to the same period of 2020.

TS launched weekly YQB-YVR and divulged pax numbers on the first flights:

This morning, to mark the inauguration of this new route, the 163 passengers of the very first TS969 flight from Vancouver were welcomed in a festive manner at the Vancouver International Airport (YVR). This comes a day after 185 passengers boarded the inaugural TS968 flight from Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB).

You will see more non combi flights out of YEG. YOW flights will be more cargo mix. since the flights head into Nunavut Baffin region. The YEG flights are more charter. The only combis are the Mackenzie Valley ( Inuvik ) or Nunavut flights (Rankin and Iqaluit)

It was smart for them to just operate a few flights to Cuba on behalf of a tour operator. I don't think they (or Canada Jetlines or Enerjet) would ever be able to become a true Canadian low-cost carrier. I'm still shocked flair wants to have 50 planes in 5 years. We just don't have enough people to sustain that sort of service, plus Porter expanding in the west.

I thought that operating on behalf of tour operators was always the plan. The tour operator that is using them has a long history of offering those destinations and buying capacity of AirTransat. They simply found a cheaper or better may of getting that capacity.

My understanding was the tour operator had concerns about AirTransat with the planned AC takeover at the time and want to jump ship. The aircraft from day one were configured around their needs and OWG have never offered flights on their own or even built out the infrastructure to do that.

The 737-400 was also not a bad aircraft for doing that. They were only running flight a few days a week. One in Toronto, one in Montreal and a third spare for the price of a single 737 NG.

Now that they have a more "expensive" aircraft, not certain what the plan is. Perhaps they got a good deal on the 737-800.

YUL Q2 and YTD pax traffic

Passenger volumes at YUL totalled 475,557 passengers during the second quarter of 2021, an increase of 187.9% compared with the same period in 2020 and a decrease of 90.5% compared with 2019. For the six months ended June 30, 2021, passenger traffic was 911,857 passengers, down 78.6% from the same semester in 2020 and down 90.6% from the same period in 2019.

Probably. A lot of 737s were retired during the pandemic, so finding a used one cheap probably isn't hard.

Any type of aircraft that was older, less efficient and paid for was quickly retired in 2020.

How are everyone's airports doing with international and transborder nowadays? I randomly checked YVR and YYC, and YVR has 8 international departures and 21 transborder departures, while YYC had 2 international departures and 11 transborder departures. Both vast improvements in transborder over a few months ago, but international is still pretty sparse.

YYC currently has non-stop flights to 5 international destinations CUN, PVR, LGW, FRA, AMS. (Will be 6 next week with CDG) and 9 Transborder SFO, LAX, PSP, PHX, LAS, DEN, ATL, MSP, DFW.

Ok nice! I have lost track of what destinations we have still, all I know is things vary so much day to do. The numbers I gave were just for today using the airport's departures list, just as a snapshot. But tomorrow the numbers could be totally different

Started carrying my vax papers the last trip to the Yukon. will be carrying them now all the time.

Brought them to Ontario recently as well and made electronic copies for ease.
