Great renderings, thanks for reposting NYGuy. In terms of the cladding though, they almost ask more questions than they answer. I wonder where that reflective effect is coming from, on the wall part I mean, is it alternating metal and glass panels? Or maybe Grand Architect is right that it's metal coated with glass?

It's surprising that there hasn't been more said about the cladding for this pavilion, considering all the interest in the cladding for WTC1. After all, this building will be finished first, and since it is so close to the ground, a lot more people will be seeing its cladding close up than will ever see WTC1's cladding close up.

Another observation from those renderings; if you tilted the memorial pavilion 90 degrees towards the sky, it creates an effect a lot like the old WTC with the wider arches at the base and narrower columns going all the way up the facade. I guess this is a deliberate feature of Arad's design?

The info is out there, it's more likely that no has really cared as much about it. It's probably in one of the Port Authority's reports. Either way, we'll be seeing it for ourselves soon enough.

Some interesting clips here about the memorial and the rebuilding.

Agreed. I bet it's going to be featured in wtc.com's headlines or wtcprogress.com's main page. They might disclose where they produce the cladding, such as the 4 WTC's marble blocks for the lobby.

If you ask me, they have to show it to us, because it is a major milestone, like the other milestones that were reached.

The curtain wall will be installed by W&W Glass LLC, same company that is doing the glass.

All the contracts for the WTC except the Silverstein Towers can be found here: http://www.panynj.gov/business-oppor...s-awarded.html

Be sure to click on the WTC site tab, the Memorial and Museum contracts are near the bottom of the page.

I finally finished the 9/11 Memorial animated construction time-lapse video. It's a little longer (about 20 seconds) than my previous videos. I also added some shadowing effects near the last seconds of the video to indicate the final, completed model.

Well, here it is:

And I took STR's suggestion of a better background music choice.

In a sign of progress on the PA's Santiago Calatrava-designed World Trade Center Transportation Hub, general contractor Tishman/Turner has put out RFPs on crucial components including the north-south concourse architectural steel and Transit Hall interior stone.

But the one that grabbed our attention was "Oculus operable skylight." Did that mean plans for a retractable roof had sneaked back into the $3.44 billion budget (up from a $2.2 billion estimate in 2006)?

Not at all, a PA source explained -- the spine of the Oculus will merely have windows that can open and close.

Used Picnik to edit a quick pencil sketch into a blue effect.

Just some construction materials, probably for the plaza. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just dirt, because the western side of the memorial still needs some soil to complete the decking on the plaza.
