I'm feeling very bullish on Atlanta right now. There is a TON of infill development going on, and the general mood of the city feels quite positive compared to just a few years ago, when development was stalled and (at least the perception of) crime seemed to be spiking in intown neighborhoods.
Next year feels like it's going to be enormous for the city. Between the streetcar, Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market, Civil Rights museum, College Football Hall of Fame, and Buckhead Atlanta, along with countless other infill projects all coming online, 2014 feels like it's going to be a blockbuster year for the city.
Another thing I've noticed in just the past year or so...and it's just a subjective observation...the population of the city seems to be much more diverse recently. When I go out to eat, shop, etc, whereas in the past the population was pretty exclusively black and white, I notice many more young 20 and 30 something Hispanics and Asians in town.
And maybe the right person is finally at the helm at MARTA. Hopefully we can see some growth in the system, rather than the retrenchment of the past decade.
It feels pretty good to be living in Atlanta these days.
