A new report estimates the cost of saving the Walterdale Bridge at $20 million

The proposed arch design has been chosen as the best option for the replacement of the Walterdale Bridge. The design was chosen over girder, extra-dosed and cable styles, and can be built lower to the North Saskatchewan River without putting supports into the water, reports indicate.

EDMONTON - The historic Walterdale Bridge’s days may be numbered after a report Thursday indicated saving it will cost $20 million and might detract from its “signature” replacement.
A new arch bridge is being built beside the nearly century-old Walterdale, and several city councillors have asked whether the bridge can be preserved for non-motorized traffic.
