Speculation about new owner of Loop Randolph St. site

Quote:
Could a hotel be in the works for this Loop site?

Quadrum is a partner in three local projects with Chicago-based Oxford Capital Group: the 221-room Godfrey Hotel in River North, which opened in 2014; the 254-room Essex Inn across from Grant Park, and a 204-room boutique hotel expected to open in 2018 in a converted office building near Millennium Park.

The firm also recently launched a new chain, Arlo Hotels, which opened its first property a few months ago in New York. Quadrum isn't saying yet what it plans for the Randolph Street property. Company representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

I'm going to love that contrast of the blue glass against the red brick and white terra cotta facade of the historic cedar hotel.

More changes to 1 South Halsted

Good: overall 10 less parking spaces than the last version (and many more less than originally planned), no more balconies

Bad: removal of hotel space on 2nd floor and shifting underground parking spaces here instead, slightly less retail, nothing to screen the mechanical penthouse on top anymore

Renelle. This is a phenomenal location. Bravo to the developers for envisioning something for this slice of land. It's just too bad they're not going for more height. Any permits issued on this one?

Renelle laid out in red.

Renelle could use at least 15 more floors for that prime location.

I have to travel from the north side to Rosemont every day for work. Like millions of other people who have to travel from the City to the burbs, and vice versa. That's how a large metropolitan area works, if you haven't yet grasped the concept.

Many people would probably rather work there than have to drive into the city.

Demo/site prep has begun at Montrose/Clarendon. I've updated the first page.
