$400 million should build an 80 000 seat stadium, that number seems a little high. What is corporate support like there? Is Katz willing to team up with others from the private sector to pay for the arena?

No it would not, but I think $275-325,000,000.00 is more accurate.

Corporate Support is very strong and I think the appetite for a new downtown arena by the private sector is also as strong. Katz wants to control this arena as he does not now which is why the team is not viable in the long term. He only gets hockey revenue, not non-hockey which is a huge amount.

Those numbers seem more realistic. Control of revenue is why the Saddledome will get demolished here, the Flames can't afford to own both arenas, and they would compete with each other for revenue.

Anyway, here's hoping they get the money for the arena sorted out soon, that's the hard part and is the most important.

A better view of the future Yorkville thanks to a wider photograph from Urbandreamer.

From left to right I included:

The Florian, Yorkville Condominiums, Milan Residences, Four Seasons Hotel & Residences, completed One Bedford, One Bloor, completed Uptown, Couture, X2 Condominiums, Chaz on Charles, a tiny corner of 75 Nicholas, U Condos I and U Condos II and 5ive Condominiums.

(Original by Urbandreamer at UT found here:

Nice work. Very impressive skyline in Yorkville. The U Condos will be an interesting addition, as will Chaz, the wait for One Bloor to start is agonizing.

And just to the right of that would be Burano, the Murano twins, ROCP I & II, and Aura. Toronto may very well have one continuous skyline from the lake to Bloor one day.

Soon I'm going to work on all of those from Urbandreamer's perspective, but he has some nasty building blocking his view on the far right of this group that I have to Photoshop out first. (Which is a lot of extra work.)

Of course, Aspen Ridge's 77 Charles' crane is in the photo still...and in front of 1 St Thomas should be the 2-tower The Saint Thomas development--if it sells. Then there's a potential Bloor-Spadina area condo tower site that may hit the market by 2015. And several on Wellesley East, roughly between the 500 Sherbourne and Verve condos you see in the photo. Then a few Church Street towers, etc.

And of course many many many more...it's Toronto after all.

Very well done... can't wait till those towers are in the picture for REAL. I still think Cumberland Terrace should be added, and 21 Avenue Road I and II as well.

Traynor, sounds like you've got your work cut out for you! Better ask your boss for some time off.

Not a problem...I am the boss... and I think I'll give myself a bonus and a raise for all my hard work lately.

Even at 800ft, the building still sticks out on the skyline just by being such a tall tower so close to the waterfront.

^^^

Seeing those renders makes me really crave something in the 250 metre range for 45 Bay Street. Let's hope it gets developed in the next cycle.

I know... but the vague design proposal shown is almost retarded looking. the design is only okay on the north and south ends.... until you see it from the east!... like WTF! It's too fat! and has a weird shape to it! Doesn't really fit in on the skyline! ... I'm sure the final design will be very different

The staggered balconies on the U condos really help give it the illusion of leaning, from a distance, very nice =)

check out this epic toronto puzzle!:
http://www.4dcityscape.com/shop/imag.../category4.jpg

found this link on the 1WTC thread, they make all sorts of models. its interesting that the puzzle (though not to scale... understandable considering how complex it would be)... It looks like they included a ton of buildings that only skyscraper geeks like us would know... i see ICE, Parade, possibly trump, etc... I do see the former Simcoe/Front proposal on the map though (i think it got cancelled).. signature tower is there too..

L tower, shangri-la, ritz, 300 front, you name it!

I'm very surprised that they would make a future/current cityscape.
