Sorry, no offense. Yes, this. Poorly made consumer products made outside the US.

I brought this up on Tuesday but didn't get a response. My theory is that they're getting ready to convert the Johnson Publishing (Jet / Ebony) building to residential use, and it will require a crane of some sort.

Yes, working on the Johnson Publishing Bldg residential conversion, which requires creating a light well by carving away part of the northern wall. The crane looks like it has a skip bucket to take out demolished material by going up and over the roof of the building. That made me wonder why the Old Post Office didn't use a similar setup instead of the very expensive helicopter lifts.

The local residents complained of softballs hitting their dogs or children and so the local alderman had the backstops and infields ripped out in the summer of 2017.
Ok, so my knowledge of it is a whole 9 months out of date. Someone could have just said that.

Impossible. You can only get a pint of Newcastle in Newcastle. Everywhere else it’s only sold in bottles.

Spotted soil testing yesterday at the northwest corner of Van Buren and Racine (next to Wise Owl).
Is there a proposal floating around for that site?

The developers are converting the old Oxxford Clothes factory into loft office.

They are considering adding two floors on top of the old building - sometimes the foundations are strong enough to do this, especially if the expected loads from the office use are a fraction of the loads from a warehouse use, but you need to perform careful and detailed tests on the soil and the existing foundations... what you saw is probably part of this work.

I believe their plan was to leave the corner site as a parking lot for the foreseeable future, but maybe they have plans to build a small parking structure there, or maybe the old foundations weren't as strong as they thought so they need to build a lowrise annex on the corner to get the SF they want.

i used to live next to that park. It was great.

That’s great. I saw moving trucks there yesterday. The few tenants that were there must be vacating.

1) The Shell gas station at North & Ashland was issued a demo permit the other day. This is where that proposed half prison looking 8 story, 99 room hotel (Hilton or Hyatt apparently) will go

Source: Ronald Vari

2) Building permit issued on Wednesday to build out 123 residential units in the 6th floor (plus 1st floor lobby) of The Fields at 4000 W Diversey (the former Marshall Fields warehouse --> http://thefieldschicago.com/)
