So how good are their measures to prevent scalping?

You should see some of the prices! 1st Row Gold Medal Hockey going for $11k per ticket.

^ 1st row? lol, we don't get to choose our precise seats. We do get to choose our seating areas (A,B,C) but the exact seat will be assigned randomly.

^ possibly sponsors then.....supposedly, VANOC will have undercover ticket buyers and those scalpers that are caught will have to give up their tickets. It's worse for sponsors and NOC's, as the entire sponsoring company/NOC could lose thousands of tickets they were assigned.

Phase 2 | Starts at 10 am (Pacific Time) June 6, 2009
Tickets remaining after Phase 1 will go on sale to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Canadian residents who missed the initial request period can purchase tickets directly through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1-800-TICKETS (1-800-842-5387).
Seat Assignment Period

Summer 2009

Ticket sales will close for a period of time once venue seating configurations have been finalized. Seat locations will then be assigned for all tickets purchased to that point, based on the following:

* Tickets purchased during Phase 1 will be assigned seats prior to those purchased in Phase 2, however seat locations will be randomly assigned within each price category by the ticketing system.
* Tickets purchased at the same time will be assigned together and best efforts will be made to seat all tickets in an account together. For example, if you purchased four tickets to a women’s ice hockey session in Phase 1, those four tickets will be seated together. If you then purchased another four tickets to the same event in Phase 2, we will make every effort to seat them with the tickets purchased in Phase 1.

Phase 3 | Fall 2009
Ticket sales will re-open once the seat assignment period ends. Tickets purchased from this point forward will automatically be matched with a seat location. Available tickets can be purchased through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1-800-TICKETS (1-800-842-5387).

Phase 4 | February 12–28, 2010
Games Time! All 2010 Olympic Winter Games venue box offices will open on the first day of competition at each venue. Please check the official Competition Schedule by sport for complete details. Main boxes offices in Whistler and downtown Vancouver will open in January 2010. Available tickets can also be purchased through vancouver2010.com or by calling the Vancouver 2010 Ticketing Call Centre at 1-800-TICKETS (1-800-842-5387).

"Sorry, we couldn't find the number of tickets you requested in the price category you selected. Please select a different price category, or fewer tickets, and try again."

I went in about an hour ago and all I found available was the most expensive tickets for the closing ceremonies. At $750/ticket that was too expensive for me right now.

I'm not sure who's bright idea it was to go with Tickets.com.....as much as i hate Ticketmaster, they would've done the job right.

Thankfully, there's still more opportunities to score more tickets.

Yeah, fees or not, large corporations can handle things better than obscure sites nobody uses.

Probably wouldn't even NEED waiting rooms, because Ticketmaster has these weird things called servers. A LOT of this alien technology, too.

Probably the same moron who made the waiting room into a random crapshooter.

Dose anyone know to whom I make the money order out to and what address I need to mail it to? I missed that part on checkout.

P.S. I found the mailing address, but I still need to know what to put on the money order.

For online payment it's only VISA, but you can also send them payment in the form of a money order or check.

Turns out if you keep trying over and over you can get tickets.

Seems like a crappy as hell system, but I managed to get Closing Ceremony Tickets by refreshing and on the fourth time (the previous three said SOLD OUT), I can now buy tickets. WTF?
