Signs of Life for Yet Another Old City Apartment Proposal

We visited 312-18 Race St. almost exactly two years ago, when we told you about plans that would very much change the look and function of the property. The historically protected, four-story brick building would remain, with the 1950s buildings to the west to be demolished. In their place would rise a four-story building that would echo the existing one, with a six-story addition added to the back. This would require removing the backs of the buildings, creating room for a 26-unit building that would feature two commercial spaces along Race.

Construction Nears Completion At Amy Gutmann Hall In UPenn In University City

A recent site visit by Philly YIMBY has noted that construction work is nearing completion at Amy Gutmann Hall at 3317-23 Chestnut Street at the University of Pennsylvania in University City, West Philadelphia. Designed by Lake Flato Architects, with KSS Architects as the architect of record and Ground Control Collaborative as landscape designer, the building will rise six stories and span 115,954 square feet, and will feature classrooms, collaborative spaces for student projects, and a data science hub. The total construction cost is indicated at $68.3 million.

I think the project is still a go, his input was more ceremonial, (though I'm not sure of the status and certainly not opening in 3 months).

But yea, the neighborhood association guy is a joke. Every time he speaks to the press he is full of contradictions.
