Is the parking adjacent to the other lot? I'm excited to see what will go up between SkyHouse and One Atlantic. There was a great rendering of a condos on office on retail mixed use tower floating around a few years ago. I seem to recall that the corner with Einstein's Bros on it was recently acquired by Novare as well I think.

Where will the big breakout occur? Dewberry's lot? 14th & W Ptree? 17th & Ptree? Sooner or later there will be another big thing.
If I remember correctly, Novare Holdings lost one or both of those corners at 14th Street to foreclosure last year.

Thit is is one of the better Midtown sites available. It would be terrible if all they could put on that site is an ugly looking 23 story residential building with a large ass parking deck over 1 small retail space. I don't no if its the client or Smallwood Reynolds Stewart & Stewart (SRSS) more but that simply sucks. The drawings in the PDF (the hand-drawn) are of poor quality, especially for a firm with the solid reputation of SRSS. It looks like a child drew it. The firm must not be taking the client too seriously. Spire down the street thinks this building sucks. This is bad news. I would rather the site stay undeveloped for another 5 to 10 years than to see see this crap get built.

Nice, so 77 12th and SkyHouse will be built at the same time and will compete for the same renters. This should be fun to watch.

I would like to think there is a market for both of these in this city right now. Like to think is key here.

They say Q4 of this year will be when they start, but let's go ahead and admit it will be Q4 of next year. Financing for at least one of these projects is not set yet.

Just saw all of the PDF right now. I had seen these renderings (and renderings of how it would fit in the skyline) on one of the printers in my company (sit near someone who is putting together the financing for it), and I thought they were all preliminary. I guess since it's apartments they don't need extremely fancy renderings or designs (they do want to replicate this tower like 5x over apparently, with different skins in different markets).

Here's the pdf, for anyone that hasn't seen it yet.
http://midtownatlanta.org/Files/MidtownA...4WestPeachtreeStreetDRCPres5-09-2011.pdf

from the plan views it appears they are slightly trying to reduce the awkward connection in 12th street across West Peachtree. If both sides of the street do this it could be lined up.

I walked by the site today...still has a For Sale sign on it, listed by Paul Hanna of JLL. He is also listing the site in the PDF below:

http://www.peachtreeat17th.com/peachtreeat17.pdf

The sign on the above property says "Future Home of Boys and Girls Club America."

I'll try to research how much space they currently lease, because if it is significant enough, the site apparently allows for a 6 story, 140,000 SF building with 7 parking levels and 280 spaces.

Emory setting the stage for hospital tower

The Emory Board of Trustees earlier this month approved the site for a new 210-bed tower across the street from its current Atlanta facility.

The new tower would be located on Clifton Road in front of Emory Clinic Building B.

Emory to start $90 million research center

Construction is expected to start Wednesday on a $90 million Health Sciences Research Building on the Emory University campus. More than half of the center on Haygood Drive will focus on pediatric research through the Emory-Children’s Pediatric Research Center, a partnership between Emory and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, according to Emory. The center, which is scheduled for completion in April 2013, will also work with Georgia Tech and Morehouse School of Medicine, according to Emory officials. The 200,000-square-foot building will also include areas for research in adult cancer, immunology and “drug discovery”, the school said

So Boys and Girls Club owns their own buillding at the corner of Peachtree and 15th, which they purchased in 2005 for $138.96/SF. They occupy 81,180 SF, which is the majority of the space in the building. If they were to move to the corner of 17th and Peachtree, then they would have to construct something new there to be able to fit. I am surprised they would be moving, though, considering they haven't even been in their own building for 6 years and visibility where they are now is greater.

On another note, does anyone know what is happening with the sports store across from Arden's Garden in Midtown? It had some demo work as of yesterday, but seemed to be open for business just on Sunday.

^You mean on Peachtree Place? That was a fake storefront set up for filming for the "Three Stooges" movie. There was also a fake Sprint store.

Sovereign Tower condo sells for $5 million.

The Atlanta business Chronicle is reporting that the last penthouse at the 50 story Buckhead mixed use tower has sold for $ 5 million and that sales at the residential portion of the tower are proceeding at a record pace. The office portion is !00 % leased.

I was walking by the back of Viewpoint today (7th and Juniper) and it looks like they're putting a new facade over the huge parking podium. Hopefully this will help it blend in with the building a little better.

What do they mean by "proceeding at a record pace?" Like, someone is recording sales that are happening? They can't possibly mean that the tower is setting some sort of speed record with sales, given that it came online 3 years ago...but then again I guess they are trying to spin some good publicity any way they can.

There is a rezoning sign in the empty parking behind the Buckhead Station Shopping Center. Does anyone have any info? At one time Regent Partners owned the lot.

Atlanta in running for 1,000 Time Warner jobs

Media giant Time Warner Inc. is considering Atlanta ,along with Tampa and Rochester,New York, for a key business unit that could involve up to 1,000 jobs. The project is part of Time Warner’s plan to reorganize key divisions to help the company operate more efficiently. That could include grouping information technology, human resources and other back office operations, or “shared services,” in central locations. Those operations reside within various business units, and the company wants to eliminate redundancies across its divisions.
