hypothetical question; will the continuous development in downtown, one world trade center and the rest, lead to more development in brooklyn and jersey, if it does this development will reshape the harbor, as it already had?

Jersey City is a suburb of NYC.
How many suburbs have skyscrapers, you may ask?
Jersey City is also closer to Manhattan than Staten Island.
It makes sense to see development across the river.

As for Brooklyn (and let's not forget Queens either), further development would be so awesome.

Imagine having skyscrapers on both sides of the East River stretching for miles.

We won't have the density of Manhattan, but just a few scattered towers is all we need, then we will have a canyon on the river.
Getting back on topic though, One WTC is (honestly) best viewed from either river and Jersey City has the best view, hands down!

I was wondering something:

afterall, does the platform-ring has only one purpose ? (that is: to support the dishes)

Or does it have another funtion?

Anyway, I'm happy that this ring is there. It gives a beautiful aspect. And brings the total roof height to 425 meters, even if it's not officially recognized.

I'm happy too that the ring doesn't look like this horrible redesign, with a "skeleton-ring".

1WTC is definitely Lord of the Rings !

If by something tall on top of a building, yeah it fits in. When the final crown is placed on top, people will be asking this question for years -
why couldn't the rest of the structure look like the top? Why didn't they finish it?

The top ring, meanwhile, is over 1,400 ft.

I'd assume it appears less skeletal due to temporary construction decking.

Just wondering if thats the top ring or not?
Three decks. Floors 100, 101, and 102. 102 is the highest one.

on-topic, I could see the top 15 floors + antenna of WTC1 from the corner about 30 yards down from my sister's front door.

The communication rings will serve three purposes. One is obviously to support the communication dishes and antennas. The lower ring will also contain the tracks for the window washing units. And I do believe the cable stays for the spire will attach to this ring also.

Yep. The guys will attach to the base of the ring. The ring will distribute the cable load without need special sub roof structure just for the guys.

Ouch... you're serious ?
Are they going to remove the gratings currently on the ring ???

Hell, then that's really too bad.

Removing all that grating on the rings would be a waste. Those look like they are custom fitted. Where will the workers stand when working on the different pieces of equipment going up on the ring?

Road cruiser, do you know if that is the final ring,, on those last renders or will there be another,, because the way I'm seeing it that's #3, the 1 that's very partially completed like 1/16 of the circle.. Simple ? is that the 2nd or (top) last ring??? Photo30887 to be exact; and NYGuys, 1 of his pics just before,so 30886, he's got a shot of the rings and it's apparent there's 3 there? but I'm confused because that photo says second of 3 rings????, these photos are on previous page.

There are 3 ring sections total. Ring 1 is done. Rings 2 and 3 are only partially built and are most visible on the south side of the building. That is the final ring.

The grating is permanent. I think he is referring to the temporary construction platform.
