I had a pleasure of showing a friend from Ottawa around town this weekend.
He was horrified by the Rooms. I explained what it's an homage to and he said, "Oh, there's a reason? Wow... still unfortunate. It ruins the city from so many angles."
He was very upset by upside-down Canada flags outside the city. "You can be a separatist, but you don't need to be a dick. Fly your own flag, don't disrespect ours."
Completely agree, BTW.
He loved it overall, though, I think.
He even correctly-pronounced place names. He was as shocked as I was.
The only one he couldn't guess was the local pronunciation of Quidi Vidi (Kwye-da vye-da), but he got the everyone-who-doesn't-live-there pronunciation of Kiddie Viddie right.
