Not disagreeing with the above, but that particular spot is the perfect place to take selfies with 1 WTC in the background.

Westfield Group Filling World Trade Center Hub with Ease
Tobias Salinger
Commercial Observer
6/9/2014

Quote:
World Trade Center retail developer Westfield Group has leases either signed or out for signing at roughly 80 percent of its 150 slots at the WTC’s transit hub, the international mall developers told The Wall Street Journal today.

The steel and glass-winged train station, which renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava dubbed “the Oculus,” will open next year with 365,000 square feet of retail space eyeballed by an estimated 200,000 pedestrians per day.

“We really were trying to get the best brands, the most relevant and most productive, given the consumer we have down there,” Greg Miles, Westfield’s top U.S. official, told the paper. “It’s really important for us to have a mix to satisfy broad constituents.”

British high fashion men’s clothier Turnbull & Asser and shoe designer Stuart Weitzman will both set up shop in the $1.4 billion retail space, and Eataly, Apple, Michael Kors, Kate Spade New York, The Kooples, MAC and Bobbi Brown are also in serious talks, according to the story.

The rents are reportedly running between $400 and $500 per square foot. Average retail rents in the area between Battery Park and Chambers Street on Broadway range from $128 to $500 per square foot, according to the latest Real Estate Board of New York retail report.report.

Yes, the longest rafter will measure ~190 feet, which will be located on the Northern half of the Oculus.

I must appreciate the design first and the work done by the Michael Arad is commendable. World trade center is a world known building and the one who admire the architectural eras need to get along with the same for sure.

They've removed two wings from the south side. Installation does not seem to be going at the pace expected. I know it's a complicated process, but I'm staying at the MH in early August and would really appreciate it if they kicked it into gear

What a colossus waste of money for a pretty platform. What we need is a new state-of-art bus terminal to replace PABT. This will help get rid of vagrants/hoodlums around a 3-block radius of the terminal and make crime drop by a lot %, if in fact it is built.

Now THAT is a transit improvement. Did you hear that PANYNJ?
