So there's been some movement on getting GO transit's Milton line up to all day, 2-way, frequent service.

Currently, the Milton line is a rush hour-only line because it shares tracks with CP's mainline. However, it winds its way through the heart of Mississauga and connects to Milton and would have tremendous ridership potential - maybe even the most potential of any line.
Here's where it stands:
- The Feds committed money ($1.2B) under former Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra, but there was no plan and it did not have the backing of the province
- Now the province has signaled it wants to move forward with a commitment, but there isn't a plan and they haven't provided any money.
So basically the province has to earmark money and have Metrolinx/partners come up with a plan. Politically, the line travels through 6 swing ridings all held by Liberals federally and Conservatives provincially, so it's in both government's interest to back this.
