I've mentioned before that the Experimental Farm needs a green house of sorts like the one in Singapore. But, maybe a smaller-scale version is in order (we live in Ottawa, afterall). So, here's one I spotted on Dezeen today:

* And yes, I want that windmill too

I imagine a couple of these "pod-like" greenhouse strewn across the farmland, each with it's own climate and type of plants. The article says they light up/change colour depending on certain conditions...I'd love to see some glowing pod action while driving down Merivale, Baseline, Fisher, or Prince of Wales!

The Austrian Cultural Forum in NYC (the really thin tower on the right hand side of the first image) by Raimund Abraham is one of the most beautiful towers I have seen. It is 24 stories and only 25 feet wide! A must see if anyone is ever in NYC. There is also a really nice scissor stair at the back (second image, sorry for the small size). Unfortunately he passed away in 2010 having only realized a few projects but his work (both built and unbuilt) was always provocative and beautiful. I wish we had buildings here in Ottawa with that level of thinking.

The last time they tried to put a windmill there, children died and property values collapsed. Not worth the risk.

Some proposals, renders and ideas I have found and love.
I hope some developers are looking at this thread for inspiration, Ottawa needs it!

An innovative balcony/terrace design in a condo tower

I like the shape of the tower and the added pop of colour

A twist or toned-down version of Claridge's Icon

This Ghery design with the aluminum or steel looking cladding would look good in Downtown and kind of the EDC building and the west tower of TriBeCa.

I love myself a good spire top. Ottawa has way too many flat roofs, not enough interesting rooflines.

I like the Avenue Tower proposal in downtown Montreal... interesting design.

Are you kidding me? Those two towers are so ugly. Minus the podium they look EXACTLY like Bell Place or PDV.

The rainier tower would blend in amazingly with Our uninSPIREd skyline. Plop that building right beside plaza 234 and Ottawa has new twin towers.

I now understand why I've never noticed the Citibank building when walking by, despite its prominence in the skyline.

Definitely bad street interaction!

Forget a spire. How about a cantilevered helipad? Because, you know, the LRT just won't cut it for some of us

Bitexco Tower, Saigon
