Very much split. Erie's the oddball of PA for sports allegiances... and the oddball for plenty of other reasons as well.
There's probably not another metro area that's basically equidistant from 3 different major league sports cities. Buffalo (90 mi), Cleveland (100 mi), and Pittsburgh (120 mi) split the Erie area's loyalties... but there's also significant support for the Yankees and Giants, owing to proximity to western NY/Buffalo ... so it's weird and I guess just depends on who your dad's team is. I'd say the order is below:
Baseball: Indians, Pirates (sizable Yankees fanbase)
Football: Steelers, Browns, Bills (sizable Giants, Eagles fanbase) (in the Bills TV market, but definitely more Steelers and Browns fans)
Hockey: Penguins, Flyers, Sabres
Basketball: Cavs, 76ers (sizable Knicks, Celtics fanbase)
