That’s too bad to hear. Times have been rough on some local eateries during the
Pandemic for sure, but they still have four other locations still in operation.

Lately though, seems like the go-to place these days for F&C is Keith’s in the Gould’s. Perhaps Keith's should consider a second location in town. I might also add that Fionn McCools next door at the Marriott has awesome Fish & Chips too so competition is more intense these days too. Below is the vocm news link...

Gahan House Harbourview is now opened in the former Millstreet/Bier Markt building on Harbour Drive. I think it might be a soft opening. Nice to see someone occupy this building so quickly. This is the sixth location in Atlantic Canada to open. You can view their menu and photos on their Facebook page. Search for Gahan House Harbourview.

Gahan was a staple during my brief time living in Charlottetown. Food isn't anything special, and the beers are good but not great, but it's certainly not bad. Sort of fits perfectly into the style of food in that area (Jack Astors/the Keg).

I do believe NLC have been selling some of their beers for a while now. I have tried a couple a liked them. I am no beer connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination! It's great to see the spot being utilized once again. I wish the company many successes!

Sad to hear that Jin Dragon restaurant on corner of Blackmarsh Rd and Bennett Ave closed for good on Dec 31. That was such a nice central location in the city. They do however say on their Facebook page that they will open again but this time in Paradise in the new year sometime. Paradise sadly is way out of my jurisdiction for carry out.

Saw a new sign for Ocean Sushi driving through Paradise earlier. Same plaza as No Frills. Anyone know anything about it?

I noticed this as well. I can't add much more info; however, it doesn't look like it's open yet.

Link within the post goes to Taco Bell Canada where you can search for job openings in Canada. St. John's isn't listed as current opportunity. Wishful thinking by someone?

Thought this would have happened by now since NB Franchisee (FMI) who took over local KFC outlets also have the franchise license for Taco Bell. Looking further at their website this looks to be Taco Bell locations in the US only. Canadian Taco Bell is operated by YUM Brands who do have an expansion plan:

"Taco Bell Canada is proud to announce its ten-year growth plan by adding 600 Mexican restaurant franchises and thousands of jobs nationwide."

From website there are currently 9 locations in Atlantic Canada with closest being Sydney, NS. I pity anyone opening a restaurant or business during a pandemic in which you have to restrict access for entry/seating. I do think there is a good possibility it will open once Covid restrictions end and reward outweighs the risk.

Anyone know what's going on at the old Tim Hortons on Topsail Road? Walked past it earlier and saw the place boarded up, and crews working on the roof

New Restaurants for St. John's soon????
They plan on five IHOPs in Atlantic Canada, the first being built out by Casino NB here in Moncton. They said they might build a second one in the city in Dieppe. Charlottetown is also definitely in the mix. That's three right there, but I am not certain where the other two will go - presumably Halifax, and maybe St. John's.
https://www.919thebend.ca/2020/01/20...lantic-canada/

Update as location 2 of 5 slated for Atlantic Canada recently opened in Halifax. (November 2021).

Also announced for Halifax and soon to open is Atlantic Canada's first Popeyes Chicken in line with companies aggressive Canadian expansion plan.

I noticed signage for Persepolis Persian Restaurant in the plaza where Timemasters was on Torbay Road. Anyone know anything about this? It would be great to have a quality Persian restaurant here!

Yeah I noticed that yesterday when driving by. The huge golden sign is up on the building. The only unfortunate thing is location. That particular location is brutal when trying to enter from the street because of high traffic from Majors Path Tim Hortons, Stavanger Drive shoppers and Torbay Road itself. Every business that has set up shop there has never lasted. I was at Timemasters once when it was located there and was stuck behind someone trying to make a left turn on a Saturday afternoon. Was waiting almost 15 minutes. Vowed never to go there again.
