Thanks Paniolo Man. Always look forward to seeing your great updates!

Not sure why, but I'm never able to copy the Reddit posts. If someone could copy the latest on Worthington I would really appreciate it. Also, has Alterra in Sugar House reached a point that's worth updating? Anyone living in that vicinity that could take a couple of shots?

Astra Tower

Hey Schmoe, Im confused about something. Is the topmost floors of the Astra going to be steel? I thought it was pre-tensioned concrete al the way to the top.

Appreciate the U of U photo updates!

That Ivory student housing complex looks just as bad as the renderings. An outdated and tacky design 15 years ago. Night and day difference with the Kahlert Village.

The steel is pretty typical for the final roof/ mechanical penthouse areas.

This.

Plus, Astra Tower has a cool cantilever feature over the top-floor amenity that has to have thick enough steel to also support the BMU that can track around the top.

I assume Schmoe is referring to a Building Maintenance Unit, which is generally used to wash windows and maintain the exterior.

I was surprised at how much construction is still going on up at the Univ. of Utah!

Jack in the Box opens in Salt Lake City, and is causing a traffic mess

Quote:
The first Jack in the Box in northern Utah in decades is open — and neighbors and motorists are noticing.

The California-based fast-food chain opened the new location Wednesday, after remodeling a former Burger King at 61 E. 2100 South in Salt Lake City. Business has been booming the first couple of days, with long lines of customers, both on foot and at the drive-thru.

I tried to stop by last night but only the drive through was open and the line of cars went all the way to the OC Tanner building at 1930 S State.

It's weird to hear people are waiting in line.

I get waiting in line for a place that's special (In-N-Out, Whataburger, Freddy's, Culver's...)

But Jack-in-the-Box is basically Burger King except run a bit better. The only reason to go is because many locations are 24/7.

I thought the same thing, I've never seen a big line at our local JITB locations but In-N-Out, Raising Canes, Portillos, Dutch Bros almost always have significant lines in PHX.

I’m glad that all the Salt Lake development talk has been spread across 10 separate threads so that each one is so dead that we start talking about the long lines at the drive-through.

Utahns love mediocre fast food, so there should be no surprise there.

The hype will die down in a few days.

It's just the relative novelty for the area. In a few months it will be like Burger King.

It's new.

And no, I don't see it much different than all the crazies who waited in line for In-N-Out.
