ok, its up by Front & Company. I wonder how much more Main street will change and if bigger name brands will move in with Skytrain coming in.

Urban Machina just opened on Cypress St in Kits can you imagine the 'fun' of sharing the bikeway with one a pack of these?

Similar to the popular Rad Power model (they have a big sales centre on West 5th).

I wonder how these smaller but wider wheel models handle. They seem pretty popular.

If we can get the delivery clowns to stop riding on the sidewalk that's a start, nevermind the bike paths.

I already see bikes like that everywhere in vancouver. I have never encountered any problems with them. The more people cycling the better for everyone. More people cycling will lead to more supporters for cycling infrastructure, and more cycling friendly city overall. Now is not the time to be small minded.

I see people traveling a bit too fast on some crowded bike areas. I think they just go the max speed and probably aren't used to actually riding that fast. There's some dangerous behaviour.

The delivery people using those and scooters on sidewalks are just assholes.

A bike isn't a car, traveling relatively fast still isn't that fast. There isn't much evidence that these bikes cause impose significant danger. I think dwelling on hypotheticals is just a waste of time.

When I cycle i'm way annoyed by aggressive driving, and the lack of grade separate bike lanes to destinations I wanna go. There are real non-hypothetical fatalities of drivers against cyclists in lower mainland. These wider bikes are the least of my worries

Sure, but when I'm on an AAA bike lane with my young kid who's learning to ride, I don't need these people (or MAMILs) riding way too fast for the conditions, and near missing kids and others. But I see them all the time.

i understand. There will be assholes, like when skateboarders skate super fast on the sidewalk or runners shouldering pedestrians to maintain their speed or drivers tailgating cyclists. Right now I see tons of benefit in just getting people to ride bikes so they can support more cycling infrastructure.

Your kids are way safer riding on AAA around fat bikes than on roads with cars. We need more people to support building more AAA lanes and wider lanes and unidirectional bike lanes. Gatekeeping right now just isn't a good time.

I love how the cyclist gang is not only intolerant towards drivers but also towards each other. If anything, I am happy that our massive bicycle freeway infrastructure will finally see at least a little bit usage through food deliveries using them.

I also think a busy bikelane is not a place for children to learn cycling, but quiet side streets and cul-de-sacs. Same goes for Seawall which is just too busy in the summer.

Talk about Seawall, yesterday I saw a real bicycle nazi getting on someone's face for standing one feet into the otherwise empty bikelane. It was hilarious how entitled this guy was in making sure nobody would occupy his little space.

Small kids don't bike on the "slow streets" in vancouver. Parents feel much safer cycling on AAA bike lanes than they do with cars, because interacting with cars as an early cyclist is fucking scary.

I see most young kids learn how to ride in public plazas. Either way we need more raised bikelanes.

I see you are both complaining about somebody policing seawall activity and doing the same yourself.

the more people riding bikes, the more support there is for cycling infrastructure, the safer it is for cyclists. Riding in groups is safer than riding alone. Don't gatekeep, promote more cycling in more places.

Agree with you about many of the delivery guys. I have quite a few close shaves myself, especially while walking along sidewalks. I understand that they are trying to make a buck with the speed, but it is still dangerous behaviour. Hopefully when more are forced onto using bikes paths, it would become safer for more pedestrians.

It's not entitlement, it's public safety.

Even a bicycle traveling at 15km per hour (the Seawall's limit) can do quite a bit of damage to the pedestrian and the cyclist if a collision occurs. More likely (because this has happened to me) the cyclist will swerve and:
a) take out another bicycle in the process, or
b) crash.

It's not a simple concept to stay on the sidewalk and out of the bike or motor vehicle lane. If someone was walking in the traffic lane on Georgia I guarantee you would honk or yell, and tell your friends later that "I should have ran that dumb pedestrian over".

In my experience the cyclists yelling at people on the seawall are far exceeding the 15 km/h limit.
