Don't get your hopes up. I don't think we'll ever see anything taller than 35 in the CBD/Escarpment area. Or Centretown. Or Lowertown/Sandy Hill.

This is one of my top 3 fav proposals for sure. Really hope it can move forward and doesn't get chopped off or dumbed down. Fingers crossed.

The other tower has now been submitted - files aren't active yet but the height is still posted as 35 storeys.

I almost cried looking at that design brief. This is a true landmark building, I can't imagine anything more beautiful as the focus of the Centretown skyline.

Not a huger fan of the redesign. The horizontal stripes look out of place. The voids that give it a bit of a Constitution Square look (the blue glass district), the flatness on the bottom and perturbing balconies further up makes it look top-heavy.

I prefer the submission of the first two towers.

Side note: looks like the garage will be built in two phases as well. Had it not been from the pandemic, it might have been worth building the entire thing in one shot.

Yep, I think this is my favorite proposal and project in Ottawa.

Really hopes this gets built as-is asap and sets a standard for other builders/designs around the city. We deserve better!

Tower C looks a bit clunky and top-heavy but it sure beats literally everything else built in Ottawa in the past decade.

I really like the redesign. If the glazing is good I think it will be very very unique. I can't believe Ottawa might get a building that would stand out in any city in the world. What did we do to deserve this?!?

The proposed development for 400 Albert Street - Tower "C", located in the City of Ottawa’s Downtown Core, is a 35-storey mixed-use tower located at the northeast corner of Slater Street and Bay Street, known as Tower ‘C’. The development is proposed to contain a mix of uses at-grade and within the 2nd storey, hotel use from the 3rd storey to the 17th storey, residential uses from the 18th storey through to the 35th storey, and a mechanical penthouse above. A total of 230 hotel rooms and 270 residential units are proposed. The ground floor is proposed to contain both residential and hotel lobbies, and a restaurant at the corner of Bay Street and Slater Street, while a mid-block connection provides pedestrian access between Slater Street and Albert Street at the eastern portion of the site between Towers ‘A’ and ‘B’. A total of 172 vehicle parking spaces are proposed to be located below-grade, accessed via shared access with Towers ‘A’ and ‘B’ along Slater Street. A total of 135 bicycle parking spaces are provided within the underground parkade.

Wow, it's beautiful. Please build it right now. If this goes up as is, I might be willing to forgive all of the RLA atrocities that have been committed against this city.

If the remaining ugly 3-storey apartments on that block are ever demolished, it would be a great site for a signature pavillion-type building like Roy Thompson Hall

I kind of preferred the notch back on the upper inside of the shorter tower in the previous version but this is also completely fine. It contributed the the open airy feeling in between the 3 towers.

I really like those apartment buildings. Classic brick walk-ups. Very well maintained as far as I can tell. Even have underground parking, which was rare at the time.

I had a friend who lived there. Very nice apartments despite looking nondescript on the outside.

Cool! Are some of the original features maintained inside?
