I have to say that, after living in Toronto and seeing the minimal attention and care given to public spaces and the streetscape, the renovations at Robson Square have in my eyes succeeded at both preserving the original intent of the design while also updating and injecting some new life into the heart of the City. Looking forward for the west side to come together.

The facade at the VAG entrance looks much better without the yellow canopy.

This is taking way too long, Hornby is a nightmare most of the day because of the lane closures, added to that all the Extinction Rebellion protests, Smithe bike lane construction and the Bute closures.

Six month project timeline seems awfully long for such a short stretch of road.

Blue picnic tables? Good God! I saw a photo of this eyesore online and about spit my coffee. Why, why, why...does Vancouver continually get this WRONG. It's the central square of a major city. Fountains and gardens not crap ideas "from your back yard".

The site sign (posted on the page before) says the work will be complete in December 2021. So far it looks like that's when it should be completed.

What's wrong with picnic tables on a plaza during covid? Covid is why they were put there. And the plaza where the picnic tables have been placed is the roof of the Art Gallery storage. They removed the previous fountain because it was damaged and risked flooding the basement. There are many other water features, gardens and fountains around the immediate area. This was designed to be a multi-purpose large plaza for events, and until covid, it was used that way, a lot. Even during covid some events have been able to occur here.

That was pretty much my reaction, too. Unfortunately, wishing for elegant fountains and gardens is considered 'Eurocentric" and not in keeping with the rustic pioneer history of the city.
