Back in Chicago for a brief visit

I finally made it back to Chicago for a brief visit after moving away last September. I spent this past Thursday and part of Friday wandering around the city before heading home to Northwest Ohio for Mother’s Day weekend. After taking the red-eye from SFO to ORD, I arrived Thursday morning to rain and chilly weather, but fortunately the rain & clouds cleared for blue skies & sunshine later Thursday afternoon and into Friday. I covered over 30 miles on foot (18+ miles Thursday and 12+ miles Friday) during my day and a half and snapped these photos along the way. I really enjoyed being back in my favorite American city!

1. Walking through Terminal 3 – Concourse C at 5:40 am after a red-eye from SFO.

6. Hopped off the brown line train at Damen and walked around Ravenswood, including a visit to Groundswell Coffee Roasters (one of my favorites when I lived not too far away before my move).

7. Andersonville

8.

9. Love these greystones in Andersonville!

10. Had to stop by La Boulangerie in Ravenswood where they have my favorite ham & cheese croissants (especially great when they’re warm/right out of the oven)

11. After wandering around Ravenswood, Andersonville, and Uptown, I caught the brown line at Montrose back to downtown.

12. Merchandise Mart station on the brown line.

Chicago is looking good... the skyline is booming oh thank God it is booming.

Urban development in the U.S. has been divided into two opposing extremes, the good ones are getting better but the not good ones...are getting worse.
