Most likely for removing 320 n Sangamon's tower crane. It looks all set to come down.

I met him a couple of times while working on the original hotel project for the Aqua, pre-2008 Great Recession. He was.....nevermind. I'd rather not speak ill of the dead, so I'll leave it at that. I will say that his transformation of Chicago via the Lakeshore East development has been extraordinary and I'm grateful for that.

Can't argue with that, LSE is an incredible legacy to leave behind.
His River North projects are duds with the possible exception of Gallery on Wells.

Yeah, grand plaza and one superior place, along with park millennium, are much more offensively bad than any of the towers he designed at LSE like the lancaster, the shoreham, and the tides.

Although looking into his works, I just learned that grand plaza was actually designed by OWP&P and Loewenberg was just AOR, so not entirely his fault (just mostly )

In any event, yes, he certainly left quite a mark on our city, both good and bad. RIP.

The imposing slabs that is One Superior never really bothered me that much... The others for sure do.

Park Millennium feels almost brutalist and I kinda like it

This one seems fairly similar to Ritz Carlton Residences with the New York-esque Deco crown. I think that one turned out badly, but it's in such a skyscaper forest, plus mid-block site, I've never actually seen a good photo of the crown. There, he even had the Farwell Building to use as reference with its dark windows and he STILL went with almond-colored windows on the new portion.
I hate him. How many more decades is he going to keep producing the same exact neotraditional horseshit?? It's the equivalent of a McMansion in skyscraper form, and he never stops.

Block Club reports the proposal at 125 W. Maple is getting a pretty big haircut of 14 stories (I assumed it would be more like 7 or 8). And neighbors are still not happy, because of course.
