Cool, thanks. Any idea about 290? It's been dragged out so long I assume it's dead, but I really can't wait to see that block go.

It's never been submitted for permit. I can ask one of my lawyer friends to look up the status of the Court of Appeals case.

What's all under construction at this area right now? There is the full city block that they are digging out right now, but then I noticed they are doing something in the parking lot next to that block like construction was beginning there too.

Both blocks of Saltwood are now under construction.

Speaking of that area, is Block 290 dead?

Last I heard it was tied up at the Court of Appeals. I’ll check in with one of my lawyer friends on what the status of that case is.

That's funny, I didn't realize it was two different buildings, I thought it was all renderings for the same building when I first heard about this building getting approved.

The Oregon Court of Appeals affirmed the LUBA decision. NWDA appealed to the Oregon Supreme Court, who denied the petition on September 12th (i.e. chose not to hear the case). The only possible appeal from there is the US Supreme Court, but that would be incredibly unlikely.

Here's a drawing from the 290 proposal, which notes plans for NW Quimby..

I like all the new Slabtown developments. Whoever did the leasing for the commercial spaces attracted good tenants and even though I'm way down in far SE PDX I find myself there often to eat at Please Louise, G Love, people watch and eavesdrop at New Seasons. Carioca Bowls is good, I love Pistils and XLB. I've heard the Solo Club bar is also nice. The only thing about the development is that it seems like the embodiment of everything "New Portland" that all the people who have been here for longer than 10-15 years love to hate.

No pictures but Saltwood North and South are both rising out of their big holes.

Three years since Design Review approval and five and a half years since the first DAR! This is an outlier for a number of reasons, but it's also an example of why a few months of silence on a project doesn't mean that it's dead.
