Earls Restaurant Group is set to open a new location at Station Square in Burnaby on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in time for the Easter long weekend. Consistent with Earls vision to ‘unchain the chain’ and become a collection of independently compelling restaurants, Earls Station Square will feature a modern and bold design and a lively, social atmosphere, seating up to 287 guests, including 88 on an elevated seasonal patio. It will be the first restaurant to open on Restaurant Row, an up-and-coming retail and dining precinct adjacent to Metrotown Shopping Centre.

The Earls internal design team, consisting of Abigail Stephens, Elly Chronakis and Wendy Tait, were inspired by Burnaby’s diverse global community for this project, balancing punchy colours, strong geometrics and black metal work with intimate lighting and an abundance of indoor plants throughout the lounge, bar and dining room. Local modern art also plays a huge role in this location, from the charming vintage photograph by influential Vancouver photographer Fred Herzog which greets you at the entry, to the commissioned mural by Burnaby-born artist Priscilla Yu that draws you into the lounge. Finally, a curated gallery wall, produced in collaboration with the Burnaby Arts Council showcases paintings and prints created by local (Burnaby and BC-based) artists.

Consistent with Earls commitment to providing a diverse and globally inspired menu from quality ingredients, Earls Station Square will feature new and legacy Earls dishes created by Earls Culinary Development Chef David Wong and the Earls Chef Collective. This will include an epic brunch offering, along with lunch, dinner and happy hour selections, several of which will be exclusive to this location, including a Spicy Thai Lobster Salad, Lobster Tostada and Blackberry Peach Cobbler.

The old station square had some life, they had a good variety of restaurants in there. Nice to see it coming back.

There is not much nightlife in Metrotown right now, and it will get even duller in the coming years as the demographic that supports bars and restaurants gets forced out of the neighbourhood. Eventually 60 000 people will be living in Metrotown, and it will be one of the dullest places on Earth.

I wonder how long until the location just down Kingsway (the other side of Willingdon) closes. I really can't see them being unique enough from each other that it's worth it to keep them both open.

They did? I remember Red Robin and A&W (and the movie theatres). They've opened more food places already without even counting their 'restaurant row'. Have they announced anyone other than Earl's and Cactus Club yet?

Knew a few older people that used to hit up that pub in Stn Sq, next to the movie theatre I think?

It's too bad the master franchiser for Red Robins is a cheapstake, would love to see it return. I bet Boston Pizza is kicking themselves for not waiting out for restaurant row.

there was a thai palace, tim hortons, A&W, red robin, Boston Pizza, in the 90s there was a Dunkin Donuts combined with a togo subs. When the theatres were there it was a lot
busier, losing the theatres and then the cheap theatre really killed the whole place. There was also a popular karaoke place and a place where you could record a song that they would put on a CD for you.

I felt it was dying off with the limited number of shops on one side facing the parkade. The indoor part of Station Square was the worst back then. True that it does not enjoy the kind of retail synergy at the moment due to on-going construction. However, when everything is linked up all the way to Kingsway, this would be a major hang-out destination.

Five towers on top of retail (and office) will go a long way to making it a major hang-out destination. The website lists "1,800 homes" which will be plenty of people in "3 acres".
