So you're extending the reach of Clockzilla beyond the Canada section?

This monstrous Frankenhouse was renovated before the house flipping craze really took off in the early 00's.

^Not only does that place need a couple more garage spaces, but it needs a wider driveway, for fuck's sake. And yes, people like that should be paying a special "carbon tax", such as $5,000 annually per garage beyond the second.

It looks like they a decent lot size. You would think they would build the garages so the faced the side or back. And have a single lane driveway

And they have cars parked on the side?! Ugh

Meh. I'd be more interested in the total vehicle kms a person travels and the average energy usage of that travel. A person who has four classic collector/hobby cars in the garage while driving their Tesla for errands and to the nearest park'n'ride every weekday probably isn't harming the environment much more than someone with a single Range Rover parked outdoors that they drive twice the average distance.

Here's a Mansion outside Calgary that beats that garage count:

Here's a pic from when it was under construction. It's all just plywood with a stone veneer.

Reddit thread about it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/com...use_or_prison/

Here's the streetview. Unfortunately it doesn't show the recent addition of a super tacky gold sculpture of Poseidon or some other Roman God with a Triton riding a chariot with four horses. It's awful. Almost as bad as the Roman villa in Brossard.

That's what many people thought at the time. It's insane. Also, ridiculously tacky.

New money is better than no money, I guess, but goddamn if they aren't near universally tacky as fuck. Who does that? Who in their right mind would lay out a house like that as if it were a middle class bungalow, with garage sticking dutifully off the side. Put a separate building behind the main house, or at least position the garages on their side, facing away from the backyard.

If I'd known about that last summer I would have detoured from my Calgary-Banff and points west drive. I seem to recall that the traffic westbound on the trans canada westbound that day was heavy.

It beats the Montreal challenger in sheer size but the Montreal example is easier to view.

IMO the Brossard mafia mansion has more architectural merit than the Calgary POS. At least it has things like arches, and stone, and a variation of form. Not just a super cheap and unimaginative motel style layout designed for the cheapest maximum amount of square footage.

I've driven by it a few times. It is a thing to behold.

The suburban town of Paradise has no taste at all, but still somehow more than that garage mansion.

126 Ridgewood Dr

But factor in our love of clear-cutting and overhead wires, and it's probably uglier.

thank god for the return of humor to this thread.

John Baird has never looked so good, in my opinion.

that Montreal Monstrosity is probably owned by this guy, who makes his dough selling warehouse space in soul-sucking retirement homes.
