Yea, I was on my way here today with vinegar per the humane society's suggestion to pour around the house and to try and get the cats away. Of course the house is demolished, so It's too late.

They apparently jumped on the demo early instead of waiting until Monday not only because of the fuss about the cats, but now I am finding out preservationists were fighting with the developer yesterday on trying to salvage at least some doors, windows, bricks and a few other things and the developer would not allow them inside the house. So, this seems to of hastened the demolition...probably in case the preservation group were to attempt to delay the demo.

Plan Review filed for "Cabana on Washington" for multi-family at 5240 E. Washington--Washington and the 202:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/52...!4d-111.967907

Don't expect much, but hope the proposal is at least urban-ish in that it meets the street. A lot of untapped potential along the light rail between downtown Phoenix and Tempe.

So, I will admit I am not the best at finding permits from the City of Phoenix permits search website. But, I did find a SDEV permit that was issued today for Phases 1 and 2 of the Fillmore (project #18-615). However, the PDF opens completely blank, so I have no idea what the permit is for. If anyone can pull more info on it, that would be great. This is one of the projects I have been really looking forward to.

That’s the big one that got delayed because of city council and fears of corruption in the rfp right? I really hope this goes so that those empty lots can be filled

Since construction is supposedly beginning Soon (tm) I figured I should remind everyone what it is, unless anyone knows of updated renderings.

I know Biggus already added it to the Rundown thread but wonder if it's time to start its own thread. Early 2018 has always been noted as when it would break ground...i'm excited for this! It is always such a drag when having a drink at The Vig that you see these empty lots...the view should change dramatically in the next couple of months

Someone should start a thread for it when something actually happens. My office is just north of Vig so I'll let you know when a fence goes up.

Crane for Alta Central is coming down today. Snapped a quick from my office this morning.

Edit: Oops. Sorry for the super-sized photo. Here's the resized image.

Native American Connections

Now that the site for native American Connections on 2nd ave is fenced and has a construction trailer do we have any idea what this one is going to look like? Any renderings or anything?

Not really a nice part of town but a 4-story low income housing project for 29th street and Van Buren

I posted this back in May 2017...took a pic from "The Roosevelt Times" mailer. Haven't seen a better quality rendering since...

2 new hotels for airpot area

I believe this is the empty lot between the 202 and the Chinese cultural center

Canyon Building & Design (CBD) announced the groundbreaking of two new ground-up hotels in metropolitan Phoenix.

Canyon Building & Design will construct the four-story, 128-room Holiday Inn Express and the four-story, 119-room Home 2 Suites, situated on approximately four acres.

The projects are located at 44th Street just south of Loop 202, close to the Sky Harbor Airport. CBD has partnered with project developer FHI Group, LLC and Granite Hospitality to deliver the new hotels by spring of 2019.

R^3 Project Update

Initial rendering of the R Cubed project (Habitat Metro) on the SWC of 3rd Ave and Roosevelt.

- 5 stories / 70 apartments
- concrete podium and floors 2-5 "prefabricated wall systems"
- 95% solar powered / storm and grey water recycling system
- 3K sq feet of ground retail/office
- all parking accessed via alley

Last I heard, the existing building will be demo'ed over the summer and breaks ground shortly after.

^^^I feel like I have seen this rendering for something else. I guess it could be that it is just starting to look common with the rest of the 5 story developments, but I swear I've seen this a few times in the past year.

Yeah it does look familiar. I see some of the popular green shading/accents being used here too now lol

I'm assuming Forno is not going to be going back in there now? I know there was talk about them opening at central and mcdowell (pasta focused which it isn't really) and then reopening at 3rd and roosevelt.

Looks like some of the apartments proposed for downtown Mesa.

Is there anything noteworthy about the building that currently resides there? I bet it's old but I don't think it's anything significant. As always, I hate to see retail get removed but the trade off for apartments and unsightly parking lot I think is significant enough to replace 3 shops. Hope the current tenants find new residence close by.

I don't believe that was ever the intention. The new space at Muse anyways is much better/bigger location.

no one will lose any sleep over this building. This entire lot and adjoining empty parking lot need something developed cause it attracts a lot of riff raff
