Great (and very welcome) construction update. The finishing touches on the library are making a big difference. I'm less and less disappointed. Starting to look really good.

Can't we just ask people to refrain from quoting large photo posts?

Asking people might help for a short period but will quickly be forgotten. Since there are only a two or three people who post photos wouldn't it be easier for those two or three people to post a few pic and add spoilers? This problem used to happen all the time back in the days of surrealplaces, when he'd post hundreds of thousands of photos in one update and people kept quoted it. Now that's he's gone we haven't had that the issue.

I've never understood why there isn't a separate thread for photo updates, not so much for one photo, but for updates with multiple photos. I mean nobody ever comments on the content in the photos themselves, they only reply with the usual response of 'thanks for the updates'. It's being courteous and I get that, but also it's kind of repetitive.

Works for me or at least delete all the image tags.

Pretty much what I was looking for yesterday, then everyone jumped all over me, then I got "moderated" lol. Now I just quote every picture to demonstrate what a pain it is and further my point.

Awesome update outoftheice! My only request moving forward is that you use spoiler tags for updates of this magnitude. East Village is looking great. Very curious to see how Ink turns out. From one angle the pink siding looked like insulation or protective covering. Verve is looking great as is the Alt hotel. I can't wait to go inside the new library!

It's not so much what you said but the way you said it. The thing with these forums, is if one uses a bit of tact they can avoid a lot of hassles.

Exactly. This is a great idea. Using spoiler tags would also be great, but photographers forget to use the most of the time.

Good ideas.

This thread would be completely gutless without construction photo updates. I agree though that posters should at least break it up with some spoiler tags. I liked Tobyoby's idea of posting one per project with subsequent angles in spoiler tags.

Looking back at the deleted posts I see that you had only one post out of the bunch of useless posts and that was to ask for the unnecessary posts to be removed. So my apologies for lumping you in with the others.

My other posts (fewer than the others by far) articulated why I believed the Inglewood location should be considered a TOD. There I provided details / graphics from the BRT line, and the city's articulation of what a TOD is. I highlighted that we need to have a development outlook of perhaps 50 years and not 10, because a building, be it 10 floors or 30 floors, is not going to get redeveloped very easily.

You'll also recall that I spoke about the substantial number of buildings now under construction in the university district, and the questions around how pavers on the streets will work out in the long run there. I've shared a few times also about the construction at foothills parkade and the cancer centre site, including originally have providing the webcams (someone else posted the links again, but more recently).

I'm quite disappointed when others and yourself automatically lump me in with individuals who are simply responding to get a rise out of people. Who quote dozens of large photos just to say, good job. Who will twist facts to continue an argument, as if the argument is more important than the content. If you as moderator cannot see through these things, and throw me under the bus when I am indeed contributing (to my ability) it is not going to result in success for SSP.

I don't see the need for spoilering photo updates. Why hide the most construction/development related content to hit this thread since the Great Inglewood Tower debate of 2018?

Users should just avoid quoting photos, one or many, for no purpose.

outoftheice can put his photos out there in all their glory in one post or seven in a row. IDC, but spoilering them seems unnecessary.

The issue of people quoting photo posts has been going on for as long as I’ve been here. Everyone discusses the issue and promises not to quote the pics, it never lasts. Too many members and too long in between photo updates. The last time we had a photo update of more than one site was probably from Chadillac.

With outofoffice and Damon the only two people who post pics it’s easier if they just post one pic of each project and spoiler rage the rest....

That’s been tried several hundreds of times over the last 10 years and never worked.

In terms of others who have complained about seeing 40 pictures reposted multiple times, the easy way to avoid that is for people to delete the images when they quote the post as I agree, there's no reason for people to repost all the photos just to say thanks for the pictures.
Personally I don't care if the spoiler tags are on or off, and if the pics are quoted in posts. My only suggestion would be to post pics that are a bit larger. The ones posted were good quality, but hard to get all the details. How about post the same sized pics that you posted, but post larger ones, and have spoiler tags for the larger ones? That would suffice IMO.
