Why not? They get upon project completion. $6.5 mil for a $200 mil project seems like a pretty good investment to me. If they complete it I am all for it - almost 400 units downtown.

The $6.5M SkyCity grant has been approved. Now faces council approval. #wpgpoli
Was this the encouraging news you had heard or was there even something else?

Fair point. Definitely lends credibility.

Also fairplay to lilwayne, because while he and some others may disagree on aspectes of Fortress, he is rooting strongly for all major downtown projects, unlike other posters who wish for failure.

Sky City will not be going forward in Winnipeg. However I have been told and I can confirm from other source that they have sold the stake and drawings to another company who will be making a land claim some time in November possibly early '18.

The land where Sky City was suppose to be built has already had offers from a company in Vancouver and also another company in Winnipeg.

If Sky City ever wants to get built they will have to acquire the land at a higher stake now that the city has a binding offer from the staled period of stake.

CONFIRMED.

The first Sky City investor has received their $ money back in full. Date was sometime in early April.

I was also told lawyers have been spoken to about tenants and expect notice within the next 60 days about a returned investment or opportunity for the companies next real estate venture somewhere else in the city.

Documents to support claims? This sort of stuff would be making a huge splash if it were true. Especially considering that skycity is expected to be approved for their grant. If they've folded then the city doesn't even know and that is something that I have a very hard time believing.

Confirmed - we probably shouldn't believe the stuff you're saying.

Fortress just released spring newletter download here https://fortressrealdevelopments.com/news/project-update-newsletter-spring-2017/
As a investor I would love to see my cash but so far not that lucky so far. No mention of a complete sale just of potential sale of all commercial if you can believe what is stated.

Is anyone really wishing for failure? I detect plenty of skepticism but not a whole lot of malice around here.

If there's been one thing I've learned in university it's to always cite your sources...

All I've seen NorthStarsProjects do is make some bold claims about SkyCity's supposed troubles, disappear for a week and then reappear and basically restate the same thing just with different words. Meanwhile there's been no mention of this anywhere else... When the only person making those claims has also admitted how much they hope this project fails it removes a lot of the credibility.

Biff and TV I trust, but NorthStarsProjects? Ehhhh not so much...

I'm also not sure about the other companies looking to buy the land? Unless they have their heart set on that particular parking lot there are many, literally dozens, of parking lots that could likely be had for much cheaper, including right next door...

It would be pretty easy for North Stars to gain credibility as an insider by doing what many other forums do - he privately proves his identity and knowledge to a moderator and they endorse him on the forum.

I assume he wont be up for that.

^ I don't think we need to dox anyone here... if that person doesn't want to shed any light on where their knowledge is coming from, we can all draw reasonable conclusions as to credibility.
