Someone else in here referred to it as Tower 2. Also, on the Instagram page for Metropolis La, they referred to it as Tower 2 as well, so I'm getting confused.

if correct....

however, the only thing I can find posted on the net about that location is from this, which was published at the beginning of the yr....

For longtime Downtown observers, this marks only the second instance in which neighbors have fought a high-rise. Residents of the Flower Street Lofts in South Park protested bitterly against Vancouver, Canada-based Amacon’s proposed tower at 1133 S. Hope St. Although Amacon rebuffed legal maneuvers, the project never broke ground.

so what's going on?! what are the details?! can even a small proj....much less a devlpt that's over 20 stories tall....reach a groundbreaking stage & not have been detected by forumers & others who keep track of such things, esp from info collected by the city's planning dept?

The 1133 address wasn't mentioned in the downtownnews recent round up of new devlpt, although they do keep citing projs from barry shy that have been in the planning stage for something like the past 100 yrs.

I might be wrong then. I thought of it as tower 3 since it's the 3rd one to top out.

Yes, it is Tower II.. Metropolis has only three "real" towers.

My invitation for the topping of celebration also said Tower II.

@Mojeda

I knew it. Somebody was very wrong about all those "secret cancellations" (like 5-OH et cetera).

So I take it that the tallest tower is the one still remaining that is not yet finished?

Yes, that would be the tallest tower -> Tower III.

It should top out in the first half of 2017..

Look at Easy's post above. There was a groundbreaking ceremony. It's all on the DTLA Dev FB page.

Mojeda, do you or anyone have an idea of its maybe current design and for that fact the design of 888 S. Hope? The last I read was that the design had been taken over by RTKL Assoc., and according to a feature in this morning's Times with the project engineer. it will be 34 storeys not 33.

Just to be clear, it wasn't dead because of the NIMBYs. The NIMBYS only was able to move the tower about 10 feet east.

Poor bastards, they will still have their views blocked. My advice to these early arrivals to South Park (now NIMBY'S)--If you feel so entitled to your precious views why not collectively pool your money and purchase the vacant land around you, which of course you must also maintain as public park/open space in perpetuity. This also applies to the very entitled brats inhabiting the Eastern Columbia Building what with their phony non-profit--SP-DTLA and their "Save the view of the clock" bullshit.
