Mosaic stadium at Taylor Field is only for one more year I think. The new stadium will just be Mosaic Stadium since it is no longer located where "Taylor Field" is/was. When the old girl is blown up, there's supposed to be a park where the field is, so I wouldn't be surprised if that takes on the legacy of the Taylor Field name.

Copa Centenario has crossed the 1 Million spectator mark as the tournament enters the knockout stage. After 25 matches there have been a total of 1,037,583 spectators for an average of 41,503/match. Top five highest attended matches are as follows:

Mexico 2-0 Jamaica - Rose Bowl, Pasadena - 83,263
Argentina 2-1 Chile - Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara - 69,451
United States 0-2 Colombia - Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara - 67,439
Mexico 1-1 Venezuela - NRG Stadium, Houston - 67,319
Mexico 3-1 Uruguay - U of Phoenix, Glendale - 60,025

Mexico Average Attendance - 70,202 (3 MATCHES)
USA Average Attendance - 51,361 (4 MATCHES)

Mexico are playing Chile in Santa Clara on Saturday so presumably another 80K for that match. Looks like Mexico will outdraw the US in their own country. MEX certainly benefited from playing all of their matches thus far in California/Glendale/Houston whereas the US have floated across the country.

And how is this stadium/arena related? Has this now become the thread to post concert information and such just because they might be in a stadium or arena?

To be fair, it's more Canadian stadium related (i.e. a new fan zone at a Canadian stadium for pre-game events) than a tournament that doesn't feature a Canadian team and is being played in a foreign country...

How do we know it's guaranteed to be a sellout?

Still don't really see the need for a joint bid... The US could host by themselves without even trying, and if the numbers you posted mean anything, it's just that; they don't need any tag-along Canadian cities.

I really don't see the benefit of hosting with them either... The whole point of hosting a world cup is to upgrade facilities/infrastructure across a country. Hosting with the US would put us down to our typical largest 3 cities, who are capable of getting such funding/improvements by hosting other large international events that the rest of the country's cities wouldn't be able to host.

I just figured it's the first regular season CFL game to be played at this stadium, with a sellout crowd in the stadium, with various parties and events at/around the stadium, and just trying to picture the excitement and energy within the stadium for this game... I figured this topic is appropriate to discuss in a forum about stadiums.

It's not going to sellout, ticket sales have been atrocious. Probably will be a slightly higher turnout than the pre-season game with 50% of the audience being Ticats fans.

How do you know ticket sales have been atrocious? You honestly think their season opener/brand new stadium home opener will be slightly better than 16k fans with half them being Ticat fans?

How is it that TFC only gets 22k fans to their game in a 30k BMO capacity, yet I don't hear you saying how atrocious it has been? Explain to me why they have such crappy attendance? That's not even 3/4 full...??

I never said 16k, I'm expecting 21-22k with half being Ticats fans and people with free tickets. I've been pretty good at predicting TFC attendance over the past couple years by looking at the online ticket finder. The Argos are using the same ticket finder software now so last pre-season games attendance was pretty easy to estimate, I don't expect predicting this one will be any different.
