I know the owner. Hes a local developer. Its been under construction for years. He developed that ~8ish acre sliver that the house is on and North Meadows West. Rumour is the lot that hes building on was originally supposed to be 4 lots but he couldnt get the proper variances to split them up and sell them so he just kept it to build his personal home. Hes also got millions of dollars tied up in projects in Belize and in Winnipeg that arent selling like they used to so thats another reason why his house has pretty much been at a standstill.

The second section of the house with the skywalk is supposed to be the pool house. Hes also got an indoor badminton court behind/in the garage. He will never be able to sell that thing if its ever completed and it will likely be way too personally styled.

I'm not sure. There was a proposal by Tom Cochrane? to put up an apartment that stalled in maybe 2014. I didn't realize the lot was for sale.

I still can't figure out how the City approved such a thing, that house in the NW. Doesn't matter if he's the developer, PM or the Pope. Trying to create a neighbourhood by doing that?

Tom Jackson IIRC. It seems like a marketable site, I'm surprised something hasn't happened yet... I wonder why the WWC didn't just keep it for eventual expansion?

I drove by that thing last weekend, it looks like there some nice, high end finishes on the inside. Yeah, I don't know who on earth would pay the $2 million in today's dollars or whatever that house would likely cost... it's so heavily customized that anyone with that kind of money would buy or build something more to their tastes. It's weird.

Geographically, it would make most sense to cross at Bronx Park to the City owned land on the west side at Scotia & Rupertsland. Functionally, it would make most sense to connect Kildonan Drive Park to Kildonan Park.

You have no idea how pissed people living on Kildonan Drive would be about this. My brother lives off Frasers Grove and was livid about the idea of connecting the North End to Kildonan Drive. I also do not see much benefit in building a bridge like this. Growing up in EK I never once thought I really wish there was a quicker way to the North End. Also wouldn't it make more sense to build a bridge from St Vital to the U of M? Far more people would use a bridge there.

On Kildonan Drive. North end is a bit of a stretch. That's like saying Cheif Peguis Trail is Elmwood. Even Inkster is not the north end IMO. But yeah, I could understand the hesitation of having many more people frequenting the area.

For me, I would use that bridge quite often. I love going to Kildonan park for BBQ's and picnics. If I could ride my bike there without going over Chief Peguis, that's be fantastic. I also love the Kildonan Drive area.

This seems more than a little paranoid... a bridge there would be linking up to West K which is hardly some crime ridden ghetto which will flood EK/NK with hardcore criminals.

That said, I'd agree that a bridge between St. Vital and UM would make far more sense as a priority item... the most prime location for a new Ped/AT bridge would be by the UM, with second place going to the once-planned bridge between McFadyen Park and Fort Rouge Park. The latter seems to have fallen off the radar completely.

I like that idea, create more links between South Broadway/DT and Osborne Village.

Stadium has likely blown that out of the water. No one wants their neighbourhood to be a parking lot on game days.

Do like they do on the Pembina side. Parking on event days with pass only. Otherwise you're ticketed and towed. That's pretty common when stadiums are in residential areas. I guess you'll get the daily university crowd parking there too though. I don't know, better pedestrian connectivity should outweigh the car issues IMO.

Where in the west side? Wolseley? Polo Park? St. James? Or farther west than that?

First thing that comes to mind is that housing project (a co-op?) on the old Grace Hospital site off Arlington. Is it under way yet?

Speaking of cranes, I walked by the project at the foot of Market Street today with the crane waiting and ready to go. It'll be sweet to see that building go up and swallow up a surface parking lot in the process.

Much farther west. Looks like it's out by the west perimeter somewhere. Maybe centreport?
