You know, if this apartment building was just white or light grey with that urban snow camo/kitchen backsplash tile pattern, then it would look pretty good.

I don't get that rust orange, olive, and tan color scheme. Why?

For better or worse, depending on taste, these look exactly like the apartment buildings that are being built all around Atlanta, only they usually have darker colors. Must be the heat.

It is just a byproduct to top end greed. If you look at Pittsburgh and the amazing homes all over the place that were actually for middle class people and now you see them building this garbage for people to pay much more to live in if you consider inflation, it just shows the middle and lower are pretty much going to live in a box of crap and work very long hours to survive. It must have been pretty amazing back in the days when people were building amazing homes for just average people to live in and enjoy their front porches talking to other neighbors. Then there is the tearing down of the CIVIC Arena and they will put in more garbage. What a shame. That place was amazing and something no other city in the world had. It could have put Pittsburgh in a special place internationally, but the dopes running everything have NO vision at all. Enjoy living in your box for $1,600 a month and enjoy your 10 hour work days to stay afloat.

I beg to differ. Civic Arena's replacement, which demonstrates nothing particularly groundbreaking architecturally, is still a success for conforming to the grid, which conforms to the overall redesign of the neighborhood. The Igloo was truly unique but ultimately outdated. Even if the site ends up filled with mediocre lowrise buildings, that could only be blamed on the current demand. Despite our optimism, when a midrise proposal in the strip is deemed "too tall" by the nimbys, we must recognize that such a perspective will carry over to the arena site. That parcel in particular has been plagued by nimbyism, even when developers did their best to provide the things Hill residents explicitly demanded. If we are capable of tolerating such patience with 350 Fifth, surely we can hold our breath with the arena site.

On that note, I have yet to see any other story (besides the one already posted here) about the structure being too tall. Does anyone actually have the reason the article said?

I have not, though looking back through older articles, this was brought up but dismissed as not being a big deal.
