Architectural studio Zaha Hadid has presented its new project – headquarters of “Bee’ah”, one of the leading company of waste management in the Middle East. This business Education Center is located on the periphery of the desert in the north of the United Arab Emirates. These series of buildings that look like desert dunes are completely supplied by renewable energy sources.
The futuristic complex with total area of 7,000 square meters is oriented so can took full advantage of the Shamal winds energy . According to recommendation of the engineer Buro Happold and consultants of the Atelier “Ten” for the construction will be chosen materials that will ensure its own sustainability. --- The area within the two largest “Dunes” will be used for work and education. At the point of their cross-section will be located “green oasis”, designed to enhance the flow of air through buildings. This approach works will reduce the need of mechanical cooling, and therefore will reduce the energy consumption.
Thanks to the cleverly curved lines, the complex will have “quality daylight” and at the same time will be protected from strong light. The exterior walls will be covered with materials that reflect the sun’s rays. Around the “Dunes” will be installed PV cells that will accumulate solar energy necessary for lighting and operation of the complex. It is assumed that the use of active and passive approach to the design of the new corporate headquarters, “Bee’ahs” power consumption will be reduced by 30 percent.
