Small town Georgia: Milledgeville and Gainesville

I took photos of these two Georgia cities last month. First up is Milledgeville. It's about 2 hours south of Atlanta and was our state capital from 1804-1868. Today its known for Georgia College and State University, the state's public liberal arts school, Georgia Military College and the former Central State Hospital, which was Georgia's first mental hospital.

Next up is Gainesville, which is about an hour northeast of Downtown Atlanta. While officially Gainesville/Hall County is its own metro of 187,000 people, its's about of the larger Atlanta-Gainesville-Athens-LaGrange CSA which has 6 million people. Gainesville is known as the Poultry Capital of the World.

Milledgeville and Gainesville are two pretty cities. I´ve liked the pictures of both towns. They look very pleasant and charming.

Thanks for the tour and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Nice pictures. I've heard a lot of great things about Milledgeville. The housing stock is supposed to be great there.

nice work -- we've purposefully been to milledgeville, it seemed like a nice place. i see you caught a picture of george & bob's bar-b-que where i remember we stopped to eat - ha.

did you make it to andalusia aka author flannery o'conner's estate while you were there? unfortunately it was closed when we went through town, so i need to go back sometime.
