Yeah I've been looking for a few minutes now and I can't find anything on the AC 789. I think HU to YUL has been rumoured for a while.

Hey guys, if you go on the local CTV channel right now, there is a neat documentary going on called Flight Plan: YYC | Part Two. It's also extremely recent, since they have the new control tower and runway in operation.

The PEK-YUL was posted in the Canada section, thought I saw it say AC but no airline mentioned.

It is an unofficial, unsourced document allegedly stating that Hainan is going to launch all of these new routes in 2015.

Could be a leaked document but, again, no official source. The reference to the 787-9 was a typo as the document (mainly in Chinese characters) does say 787-8.

So who knows the official-ness of these documents. I guess like all pending announcements... wait and see!

Re: YYC people mover - in the video, none of the passengers on the people mover had carry on bags. If the system holds 10 passengers, is that 10 passengers with all the carry on bags and where will the carry on bags be stored in transit?

On one's lap. The people mover is for the elderly and the handicapped.

The YYC airport website mentioned 8 moving sidewalks, each about 50 meters in length.

I missed the first 1/2 hr of it and the rest was very, very informative. They had numerous renderings I haven't seen and is not on the internet. I think that was even the first airing.

This was indeed the first airing of the YYC flight plan plan part 2.

Both flight plan documentaries are made by Calgary based Pyramid Productions and Catav has aired both parts, initially on CTV main network and then rerun on CTV2. There are no planned reruns when I did various PVR Searches.

When I looked at the pyramid prod twitter account, it mentioned they were filming for part two as late as September 30th, so it's indeed very current.

If you slow down the video as the CTS unit is spinning, the side view shows that 6 seats facing one another has space for three carryon bags between the pax.

My other guesstimate based partially on knowing how ski lift gondolas operate, that max capacity with carryon or other luggage is probably about 7 people some with carryon or 10 people without carryon.

If this rumour about HU launching YUL flights next summer is true then it makes me think that when AC gets the appropriate slot at PEK they will prioritize YYC for the route over YUL.. Wishful thinking?

One would think they're building that huge terminal with the intent on adding more international flights, sounds like China's a given, what are the odds of YYC seeing some direct connections to South America, Dubai, and additional Euro connections?

1-3 years:
Beijing
Mexico City
Several euro connection such as CDG and LGW by Westjet

3-5 years:
Seoul
Panama City?

5+ years:
Hong Kong
Dubai
Istanbul

This is more of a wish list and it's unlikely most of these will happen.

PEK is most likely the next step, and I hope it could be followed in a short time frame with HKG.

I think MEX coming back is almost a given if the Feds would just get that whole Visa thing sorted out.

South American destinations just seem very unlikely at this point, lots of options connecting through places like DFW, IAH, and YYZ.

Selfishly I'd love Panama city, friends of ours just up and left Calgary to move down there with their family about 5 months ago. However it is easily accessed through IAH too.

Oh and of course as YYCspotter points out we'll probably see some WS widebody action overseas too.
