Surprised by the DEN downgrade in the setting of overall growth out of YYC. I always considered that route as the primary hub connection for UA From Calgary.

Hmmm... How did that just sneak in. This must have just happened. Scheds are still showing AC43. Once AC3/4 YVR-NRT goes to a Dreamliner not sure how this is all going to play out.

It is but they are sticking with frequency (mainly CRJ) over larger aircraft this winter I guess.

United changes their schedules all the time. So I wouldn't take this as 100% for sure now. In another month this could all change. The schedules I look at mainly are Western Canada. So they almost always change at the same time. This kind of indicates longer term changes.

WS' extra LAS and PHX frequencies are timed so whack. PSP makes a little more sense. Looks like they're playing with CUN timings too, 2310 and the redeye (forget its numbers) seem unchanged but the others move around a bit, including new numbers 2314 which weren't used last year. Don't know if they actually added seats overall.

British Airways

BA schedules are still showing their 787 service between LHR and YYC starting on September 16.

Here is a screen shot of my return shot from the itinerary.

I guess that part doesn't say Rouge. It does say it on the page though. UPDATE: It is an earlier YVR-OGG flight that is Rougue, not the return flight I have displayed here. Sorry for the mistake.

Just out of curiosity, what's the problem with Rouge? I've never used them.

YVR-OGG is rouge, however YYC-OGG is still mainline 763 for the comming winter season.

I'll let you know soon enough. I just found out I got "Rouged" on my Italy flights at the end of the month. I don't remember seeing it when I book the flights, but I went to change seats, and sure enough... Rouge.

Anyway, most of the complaints seam to be uncomfortable seats with little pitch and no leg room. Apparently being taller than 5'8"=suffering.

Rouge is service inferior to mainline at prices identical to mainline, so it's an annoyance on routes where Rouge has replaced mainline.

That's weird. I never really found mainline AC to have anything but bare-bones basic service. I'm curious how much more basic it could get. Granted, I've only ever taken flights with them of 5 hours or less.

Problems with rouge:
- Crew highly inexperienced. The most senior in-charge has about 1.5 years experience being a flight attendant. The inflight crew is also very young, so they lack a lot of life experience that can come in handy. Example, they have a hard time relating to stresses of travelling with small children. A few years ago on mainline AC and travelling with my infant daughter, I needed to warm a bottle. The FA took out the air sick bag, which to my surprise was waterproof, poured the hot water into the bag to quickly warm the bottle. No amount of training would account for this situation.
- The Western Canada implementation of rouge did not go well. For starters rouge transfer was only given about 6-8 weeks notice and that offended a lot of frequent flyers who booked assuming they would get mainline service. AC Management has pledged to not have quick transfers to rouge.
- Most of the rouge routes were places where upgrades from cheap fares were easy to come by. For example I have upgraded YYC-LAS numerous times for $99 base fare. I have done the same for LAX and SFO. YYZ and YUL AC Altitude members would do the same on flights to Florida. With AC rouge, the premium cabin product is economy seat with extra legroom and the middle seat blocked. Also the food is significantly reduced in quality.
- because there is more seats in the 319, the aircraft feels tighter. legroom has reduced by about 1/2 inch; the new seats are slimmer than previous mainline variety and this accounts for more than half the lost seat pitch.
- The rouge aircraft do not have IFE screens. IFE is provided over WIFI to the pax tablet or laptop. Power is not provided to the seat. On the flip side, the seat pocket is located at the top of the seat and standard IPAD tablet with cover can be hung from the seat pocket.

Overall the biggest problems with rouge is the lack of upgrade options that were previously easy upgrade flights from cheap fares.

Don't disagree with your points - however re: the bolded parts above, I would venture to say that's not a recipe for a successful business model for AC, i.e. loads of upgrades for cheap.

And I say this as an AC Altitude Super Elite that loves my upgrades Fact of the matter is low yield high traffic routes are prime Rouge candidates.

All true, well I fly on Rouge in a month to LAX so we'll see how that goes. Maybe the upgrade to premium seats are worth it or maybe I can pay extra for an exit row or front of cabin seating. Otherwise I will plan on doing a few walks up and down the cabin to keep my blood from clotting in my legs. No IFE? Boourns! I guess I will plan to bring my own food and drink and maybe rent out one of the tablets if the price is decent.

Great pict of the expansion. Yes Google is overdue for another update to the YYC area. Huge progress and it truly is like watching another airport be built right beside our existing. Anybody else have 2 billion dollars lying around??

The other thing with Rouge's in flight bring your own tablet nonsense is that they only support Apple! They could at least make an Android app, they do hold over 60% of the tablet market and around 80% of the phone market.

So dumb question, but are there any plans to extend the airport any further after the new International terminal is done? I feel like airports are always under construction…so what's next?
