It would have also had the benefit of not having to shut down the bus loop, as no construction would have been required in the station area. They should have also finished the third platform roof and track as part of original construction, and in the meantime the third platform could have been used for train storage like Stadium station.
Also I guarantee you that if the station and basket weave were fully completed as part of the original Millennium Line construction, we would have gotten the Evergreen Line alot sooner as the guideway hanging over Gatineau like an albatross would have been a constant every day reminder to the public that the M-Line was built for this extension, we've invested money into being ready for the extension and that the extension needs to be done.
Do you know that the average person has/had no idea that Lougheed station was pre-built for the Evergreen Line? The general public is just so ignorant (and some just so dumb), that even staring at the third unfinished platform in plain sight, they didn't even know what they were looking at, that's if they even noticed it. Almost like if you showed a cow a cell phone, completely oblivious.

You're preaching to the coverted here, its a big mistake not to build the Evergreen Line from the get go back in 2002. But we have no time machine to correct the mistakes of Ujjal Dosanjh or Glen Clark, and to build the Evergreen Line (then PMC Line) first as John Kingsbury was pushing for.
But at the end of the day, the basketweave is gone, it will never return. So the best course of action is to simply finish the guideways at North Road so the entire project can move forward. Even the visible continuous extension from Lougheed up to the South Tunnel Portal would be lightyears ahead of making the area look beautiful, since despite the trains not running yet, the Skytrain Line would still look extended.
So instead of whining about things that can never be undone, or trivial things like station roofs, all energy should be put into moving this project forward, starting with making the gantry crane operational to start lifting guideway segments from Foster Avenue to Gatineau Place ASAP!
