Stradley Ronon looking for new space in Center City

Currently in one commerce square, the article mentions several locations Stradley is looking at:

1. Space in BNY Mellon available upon FMC vacating to their new tower
2. Space in Two Liberty place if Cigna moves- any idea where Cigna is moving? This would be a devastating loss if true. I know there were talks of moving 200 employees to Connecticut and maintaining 1,100 employees here, but their lease is up in 2016. I hope the remain in Philly and just either move to another tower or renew in Two Liberty. WE NEED A BETTER BUSINESS CLIMATE IN THE STATE AND IN THE CITY OR THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING.
3. Possibility of moving to newly constructed space a top the Market Place Design Center.
4. Staying in One Commerce Square- least likely of options.

Guess we will see!

It sounds like Cigna is going from 400K to 300K sq feet - so the 100K free would be enough for Stradley...

Took some pics at AQ Rittenhouse on the 1900 block of Chestnut today. There's a crane going up shortly.

I still think we should start a thread for this one. Its going to add quite a bit of density in that part of Rittenhouse.

Phillyflips, you cruel person, you just caused Pennsgrant to have a heart attack.

Sorry, Pennsgrant, this is not the revised design for the Drexel Hotel project, it's just photoshop by phillyflips.

Makes sense! I'm fine with either other options Stradley takes as long as Cigna DOES NOT LEAVE Philly! lol

I agree! There really should be a separate thread for this. I created a thread but it was moved to the General Developments thread. No idea what the issue was. It meets the requirements for a separate thread at 12 floors and 151 feet.

Philadelphia Port to Expand

Quote:
To capitalize on changes in the shipping industry, the Southport Marine Terminal in South Philadelphia is planned at a cost of $300 million. It will consist of shipping piers, storage areas, rail yards and easy access to nearby I-95 and I-76. While parts of the 275-acre facility are already receiving shipments of ethanol and other products, most of it won’t come online for another two to three years.

It could more than triple the number of jobs at Philadelphia Regional Port Authority facilities from 5,000 to as many as 17,000. It is the first major expansion of the port in more than 50 years.

“If all goes well, 2017 will be the magic year,” said Charles G. Kopp, chairman of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority and a lawyer in Cozen O’Connor’s business-law department. “The development of Southport will have a tremendous impact on the port’s future, especially the employment and economic development it will generate. … We believe Southport will be one of the major, if not the most major, engine to stimulate the economy and produce jobs for the Philadelphia region in the next 5 to 10 years.”

Did a quick photoshop today of the FMC/Evo rendering with the CITC and the SLS tower. Still new to photoshop so I apologize that its not the greatest quality. But these buildings are going to make great additions to the skyline, cant wait to watch them go up!

A panoramic view from atop the South St. Bridge in 2016 is going to be spectacular

Meh. It'll likely be another awful Jefferson building that turns its back on the street. Watch!

Not quite sure what you mean. To me, these look pretty good from the street:

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.948287,-...3m4!1e1!3m2!1s54HC5lx-I1F5jojlDqN5Aw!2e0

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.948277,-...3m4!1e1!3m2!1sWYOdvev9tyRLSafQdenGbg!2e0

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.947536,-...3m4!1e1!3m2!1s834zoRSpzwSpYmtYqs8fjQ!2e0

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.947434,-...3m4!1e1!3m2!1sOMQSfXNkriBMXzt3H5AJuw!2e0

Whether or not one likes the architecture, I think Jefferson's recent buildings do a pretty good job of engaging with the street.
