No, it's a little simpler than that. See the diagram posted by officedweller.
On the existing platform facing west, none of the trains that you see approaching will stop at your platform. They will all change tracks to go to the new platform.
On the existing platform facing east, you will see trains from Waterfront arrive on your south side, load/unload, and then head back toward Waterfront again.
On the existing platform facing east, you will also see trains from Coquitlam arrive on your north side, load/unload, and then continue toward VCC-Clark.
On the new platform facing west, you will see trains from VCC-Clark switch tracks twice and arrive on your south side, load/unload, and then continue toward Coquitlam.
