It's not that, there are just too many people downtown! Too hard to get around. Plus, I'm in San Francisco now so I haven't had a chance to take any lately. Coming back Saturday, I will definitely be out and about this weekend.

I'm thinking about it. I was planning on going to the free shows at Auditorium Shores, but I'm not sure that they'd let me bring in my camera. I'd be riding my bicycle, so I wouldn't have anywhere to keep my camera other than with me. Honestly, I'd rather go take pictures than go to the concert, so we'll see. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to do both.

I saw security not letting people take in cameras so you might get some trouble, unless you hide it somehow.

I went. I took a bunch of pictures along South Congress and 6th Street. Cool crowd. My battery died before I went in. I actually told the guy I had a camera, but that the battery was dead. He was cool with it, I even had my tripod. They don't really bug you much about your stuff at concerts. I was getting high off 2nd hand smoke, haha. I got right up to the stage and saw the ARC Angels. Plenty of people had cameras around me. I was wishing then I still had some battery left.

They raised the crane today at the Austonian. It's now above the Frost.

It looked like they were still raising the crane as it was getting dark. So maybe they'll raise it even higher Sunday!

Surely it'll be higher than Frost. It was probably around 450 feet up to begin with. I think the sections are 20 feet each. I would imagine they'll jump it to around 550 feet which would be around 5 pieces. Does anyone know how many pieces they brought to the site?

Geez man, we might have bumped into each other. I was "up on the hill" too. In fact, was that you with a friend who was pointing out Spring and The Monarch? I was up there with my bicycle while Raul Malo was playing.

No Kevin I took the pix while Bob Snyder was finishing his set...around 7 pm. We had no real plan of attack for parking and ended up paying $10 to park at the bike shop at Barton sp.near Lamar, by the pitch and putt. What a deal...no need to take bus transport b4 or after, it worked out nicely after the show. The Arc Angels were well worth the minor hassle we endured.

I don't think the Austonian crane is at full height yet. It looks like they added about 10 stories to it.

Here's a picture from about 6:30pm this evening.

Here's a picture from 12:30am.

I forget what time I was there, I would imagine around 7:30. I headed over to Auditorium Shores at about 7:45. I'm glad they let me in, the ARC Angels put on a good one. I got up to within 20 feet of the stage.

EDIT: Thanks for the pic. I need to check the views around my neighborhood. It should be sticking up by now that it's taller than Ashton.

Awesome view you have there, jeremyz. That photo is great.

I took a few photos of the Austonian last night, although I was mostly taking SXSW pics.

Great pics. That last one is really interesting.

By the way, I noticed they put in the windows on the west side of Ashton at the top. And they're starting to coat the concrete on the crescent/arch roof part.

And Strayone, this is a cool shot. Such a good "in the moment" photo.

Yes please! On both accounts.

i'm surprised the Westin hotel is moving forward.
Well it is will something to look forward to in 2012 or 2013...there is no need for everything to be built at one time.

I have a feeling downtown residential building is going to go on hold for a while even after the economy recovers. A *ton* of units are being built right now, and I can't imagine they are selling like gangbusters.

If by a ton you mean several hundred, then yes.
